Should I buy a Gun to protect my family and home from the Socialist takeover when Obama becomes president?

You should not only buy a Gun (I would recommend a deer rifle, a shotgun and two hand guns - lots of ammo) But more importantly - you should be stocking up on dry & canned goods - flour, sugar, dried beans, canned meat and vegetables and pure WATER.

Also if you store potatoes spread out in a cool, dark dry place they will keep for several months. You can wrap them individually in newspaper to help preserve them. Eggs will store for several months in a very cool dry place. Just see if they float before use and if they float they are bad and do not use them as they can contain salmonella - also make sure they are cooked DONE always - no runny yolks - scrambled or Fried Hard or baked in quiche or bread cakes etc.

There is also powdered milk, powdered eggs available too that will store indefinitely without refrigeration. We also laid in a lot of pancake mix you only need to add water to and other baking things like Salt, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Corn Starch, dried peas, canned hams, sausage and bacon, which should be in as cool a place as you can manage and cooked thoroughly before eating.. Then you will need shortening and/or cooking oil and butter or margarine.

Water should be stored in Glass or stainless steel if possible. You should have several 100 pounds of everything above and more if you can afford it. I would recommend a 100 gallons of pure water and be sure to remember to fill up your bathtubs or large containers that will hold water so you can flush your toilet. One of the best investments you cld make would be a generator so your refridge, freezer and other elec appliances would work for a time - however much gas you could stockpile.

It wouldn't hurt to have a smoker either as you can keep thoroughly smoked meat for months in a cool place.

We also bought enough 4x8' 3/4 inch plywood to put over the windows which hopefully will give some protection (not bullet proof but some help we think) and not let the 'light' from our gas generated electricity show through. We have thick weather stripping to go around to block light, too.

Emergency Radio and Lanterns, chimney lamps with oil etc would be good too. There are those radios that run when you 'crank' them and flashlights that generate power when you shake them.

I don't see the 'takeover' coming as a socialist takeover though. I see it as fuel prices rise, trucking companies go out of biz (who deliver most of our nation's food supply) because they can't afford the fuel AND food prices will rise outrageously (along with everything else) ~ pretty soon there will either not be enough food in the store to buy OR it will be so high priced you cannot survive on what you can afford. Then the riots will begin. Food riots could devastate our major cities. Once all the food stores are looted and burned, where will the city dwellers get food?

Also there has been several articles in major economic mags that predict a devastating stock market crash if Obama is elected. Combine that with the Capital Gains tax hike that Obama is planning - and many large corps WILL leave the US - taking their jobs and benefits with them.

Which again will give us a huge downturn in our economy.. causing a deeper depression. Plus the Refusal to drill for oil, refusal to utilize our oil shale, refusal to build more refineries, refusal to build more nuclear plants to produce badly needed power... deeper depression yet. I believe oil will go to $300+ a barrel and no one but the multi-millionaire politicians will be able to afford to drive or fly.

I Am Conservative but not radical. Just a practical Christian person that sees how it may go if Obama is elected and we ARE getting prepared.. BTW we are not Mormons.

Thank God I live in the country, grow a garden and can vegetables and venison.... and hopefully, it will take them awhile to get out here.. probably not as long as I would want it to.

LOL, but he wants to take down our borders and open them to everyone! he wants to disarm our nukes, He wants to disban the military! you should hear what he wanst to do. I guess he feels by doing the above, then the terrorist can come here to use america for training camps and that way they will leave us alone! I also like how today in nigeria they are having a problem with the militants and the oil refineries. We do NOT get any of our oil from there, BUT obama seems to have at some point talked to the militant group. He has them willing to pause what they are doing. The leader was on tv today and said he trusts obama and will pause to wait to hear what he says. LOL Another militant group that likes obama!!!!!!!

Few years ago Conservatives had a saying "love this country or leave it." I assume under the care of McCain this country will have "bright future?" Let's give guns to everyone today and make the country safe and sound.

No. Guns only provide one shot one kill. When it comes to Socialists, a boom box playing Rush Limbaugh allows one shot and many kills over a wide area. Those that don't die switch sides and fight for you.
