If you tresspass on my propery or break into my home, why again do you think I wouldnt or shouldnt shoot you?

Live in Texas next door to me and you can do it without hesitation. Thieves are scum. People work hard for what they have, you try to steal from me and you will have a talk with God coming for you. Its really easy, get a job like a normal person. Good for you for your view.

Laws very from state to state on when deadly force is allowed to be used. In the state of Virginia for example the law requires that a person attempt to retreat to the bedroom and call 9/11 unless under immediate physical threat. If the person enters the bed room then a citizen can lawfully shoot. So if you shoot someone in your living room in VA or elsewhere unless they have a weapon in hand you could find yourself on the wrong side of the law! Simple trespassing is not enough to allow someone to be shot dead.

Using lethal force is only authorized when you are threatened with another persons use of lethal force. Shooting someone just because they are tresspassing or breaking into your home is not usually legal in most jurisdictions and will result in you getting arrested and charged with a crime.

The other concern is shooting a resident of your home, coming home late, or a neighbor trying to alert you that your house is on fire.

You MUST identify the target and the threat first. There is no shoot first ask questions later ... unless you want to ask your cell mate which hole he wants to #$@% you in.

I know that if someone breaks into your house, it's legal to shoot them, but I don't think it's legal to shoot them for simply going on your property. You really have to be careful----killing someone is a really serious crime, even if you have just cause, and even if you don't go to jail, you'll get yourself into a big legal mess no matter what. Also, I've heard plenty of stories where parents have shot their teenage kids accidentally from mistaking them for robbers when they came home late at night. My main point is, think about what you're doing.

Because trespassing does not constitute an imminent threat of bodily harm, and therefore, shooting me would not give you the option to claim of self defense. There is well established precedence in the U.S. courts that will send you to jail, and provide me with the opportunity to take you to civil court, as well. I would hope you're smarter than that!

Just call the cops...it'll save you the headache, seriously.

Because it's illegal to shoot someone just for trespassing, for one. However, in some states it IS legal to shoot someone for breaking into you house if they threaten your family. I would never, NEVER recommend this - taking a life is serious, serious crime. The fact that it seems like you would as a matter of right is a bit disturbing, honestly.

Trespassing on ones property gives you the right to call the police if you feel it is necessary not right to shot them. Breaking into your home doesn't give you the right either only with just cause i think or you feel your life is in danger,but remember criminals have right to they can turn around and take you to court to or their relatives.
