How come there are so many Evolutionists who want to save the animals? Isn't that fighting against Darwin? If they are naturally selected they should go shouldn't they?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat would you call this?
What would you call someone who wrote these words December 25, 1832?
1 Verily, thus saith the Lord concerning the wars that will shortly come to pass, beginning at the rebellion of South Carolina, which will eventually terminate in the death and misery of many souls;
2 And the time will come that war will be poured out upon all nations, beginning at this place.
3 For behold, the Southern States shall be divided against the Northern States, and the Southern States will call on other nations, even the nation of Great Britain, as it is called, and they shall also call upon other nations, in order to defend themselves against other nations; and then war shall be poured out upon all nations.
4 And it shall come to pass, after many days, slaves shall rise up against their masters, who shall be marshaled and disciplined for war.
Anyone know who wrote them?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agorighteous indignation vs. intolerance?
why have we allowed righteous indignation to be classified as intolerance? For instance just because I think something is wrong doesn't mean that I am intolerant of those who do it. Maybe what they do is just wrong. Why must we tolerate something that we know is wrong...do we not have a duty to be indignant?

2 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoAny religion a cult?
Webster defines a cult as:
1: formal religious veneration : worship
2: a system of religious beliefs and ritual; also : its body of adherents
I would argue based on that definition that all the religious folks here are members of cults. CAn we rid R &S of this word since it is obviously used ignorant of its actual definition?

8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoPaid ministry?
Can someone explain to me how a minister can take a salary for the services he provides? where in the bible where ministers paid for their service? Won't there always be a conflict of interest down the road? for example if I knew that my salary was dependent on the number of butts I could put in the seats I would likely only preach the happy parts of the bible that make people feel good, not the stuff that really makes people better. It is inevitable. This is probably why there are so many churches. How can I trust someone who gets paid by how many people show up? Someone help me> Any biblical evidence of Prophets or Apostles recieving anything for their preachings would be helpful too! thanks
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoTruth about Mormons...?
I have always been curious...why do people on this site spend hours trying to tell other people what they believe. I think those people know what they believe. If you don't like it...that's ok. We love you anyway. Do other churches have classes on what mormons believe? I am curious, there seems to be quite a few scholars on here. Putting it simply, I would never presume to tell a Baptist things he holds dear to his heart...because I am not a Baptist. Follow the lead.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow should this scripture be understood?
Revelations 18-19 read:
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall aadd unto these things, God shall add unto him the bplagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the abook of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Isn't it more logical to think that John was only speaking about the book of Revelation since it would be 200 more years before the Holy Bible is assembled. He was likely unaware of other books included in the Bible. For example there are numerous epistles of Paul that were written after Revelations.
I often hear that this scripture applies to the Bible as a whole. If I were to believe that then I must omit 2-3 of the pauline epistles. What is the proper understanding of the scripture?
