Perhaps it is to do some "damage control"?
Unconfirmed informants indicated that he was seen running out of his house in his chonies, screaming like a little girl, when it happened, and the event was allegedly videotaped. If he is angling to be Obama's VP, as another poster indicated, then this is not good publicity if it really did happen.
In a completely unrelated event, the same unconfirmed informants indicate that Michael Jackson allegedly is interested in purchasing said alleged videotape if it exists.
