Question for the faith without works crowd.?

Basically protestants. How do you think the bible can be interpreted by you without the magasterial authority of the roman catholic church in light of this biblical passage.

2 Peter 1:20-21

know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will, but rather humans being moved by the holy spirit spoke under the influence of God.

Update:

its not hypocritical on my part if this is part of roman catholic doctrine, i don't see how you can call the pope evil either, i mean its not like he is charles manson or something.

Well for one God give the Holy Spirit , not man .

Christ said I will baptise you will the Holy Spirit , so Christ is the one that gives it , from the Pope to a person like me .

I have seen Jesus Christ in a vision , Has the Pope ?

It's God and Christ decision on who know what , not a man , God has spoke to me in a voice , Has the Pope ever heard Gods voice ?

Like I said its God that chooses who and what he reviels to man , not man , man made the pope the pope , not God .

The spirit of Truth , of whom Christ is is give to those that obey Him , not to whom man sets up as the pope .

And the spirit of truth , is the one that speaks all truth , and that no man has to tell the one with it , anything , I do not need man to tell me anything .

If you truly want to measure a man of God , not by mans standard , but by Gods , look at these things ,

one , God is truth , who ever has him knows the truth ,

two God is love , who ever has God is born of love , and is filled with love .

three God is power , had the pope prayed and healed anyone lateley . All men who have grown up in Christ will have all of these things ,

These thing trutly show a mans conecting to God and if a man does not have these things , he is not a mature son of the living God .

And it is God and God alone decisison on who has these , and not man , man apointed the pope , not God .

Look on men in truth , as Christ is the truth , and not on religiouis bais , see the truth , and know the truth .

And if the Pope is a man of God , He will have all these thing .

All men of the bible had power , that were close to God . some spoke and the sun stoped in the sky , other parted river , some laid cloths on people and they were healed , some spoke with tounges , other did many other thing , but where God is power is , and love , and truth .

As you say, scripture is not subject to personal interpretation. If you really believe this, then how can you say that the leaders of the Catholic church did not interpret scripture.

And as far as the Pope is concerned, I haven't heard many Christians say that he is evil. What most protestants do believe is that the Pope has been put in a place where no human being has been given the right to be. No human has the right to make moral decisions for any other human being. It doesnt matter whether they are catholic, protestant or Muslim. Only the one living God and His Son Jesus Christ has that right. His commandments are clear. Peter was not the only diciple.

Churches today (all of them) are more worried about how to spend the money put in the collection plate then they are about saving souls and living as Christ lived and the people who praise their church because it has glorious stained glass windows or a fabulous collection of statues are just plain stupid. That is not living Christ-like.

I sincerely hope that no one takes offense at what I have said, but isn't it about time we remember that Jesus belongs to all of us?

im not protestant, but i dont see a problem.

"there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation"

that means that the prophecies are solid. they have one meaning and only one meaning. your personal opinions do not account for what it really means.

"no prophecy ever came through human will, but rather humans being moved by the holy spirit"

Only God can reveal to you what the scriptures mean. This doesn't say anything about not being able to have the same effect en masse or on your own. you can do it on your own, you just have to realize only God will tell you the truth; no human on their own can understand.

Um..wow..talk about taking a verse out of context.

What Peter is saying here is that scripture has only one meaning. It can not be something that humans think, but it must be something that God has said.

Also, please take into account ALL of scripture. Paul tells us that we are REQUIRED to study the word of God. It is not a question.

Also, the roman catholic church is full of nothing but wickedness. The pope is a vile evil man.

Lastly, this has to be the most hypocritical question I have ever read. You are doing exactly what you say we can't do.

in which within the bible does it state accurately that simplest real religion produces well works? Let's appear on the case of the well samaritan. Everyone noticed the person part useless at the facet of street they usually simply without difficulty walked on beyond him, fearing what would occur to them I believe or they are going to get the blame for it, or they have been simply too busy and could not be stricken, what does it subject what their factors have been, probably they weren't (as protestants say) Truly stored because their religion did not produce well works, despite the fact that the bible does no longer any in which provide us a rationale that a few decide on not to provide of themselves out of affection for God to any and all who're in want. But, then comes the well samaritan, who choices him up takes him to the closest resort and will pay for his care, with none forethought in any respect, he simply sees anybody in want and he bends to help them. That is the case of each religion and works which incorporate love because the grace that saves us. Jesus offers those because the examples and simplest the well samaritan did the proper factor. The protestants can drive scriptures to intend what they consider however the scriptures say in galatians that it religion that produces well works in love (that's all grace), however it is only Grace if we decide on to cooperate with it as did the well samaritan, if we simply stroll via as did the others then the grace is wasted and no longer applied. So the time period they use quite often "we're underneath grace" and no longer via works of regulation, is proven how they misunderstand with their misinterpretations. Works of regulation refers back to the ancient jewish customs of circumcision, washing of palms, and all ceremonial rituals, they fail to "see" the regulation we ARE UNDER is that of the brand new covenant legislation of Christ which incorporate the morality of the ten commandments, and all different matters during which we're commanded to obey, which incorporate the church, the monks that incorporate the whole lot taught via the 12 apostles to educate the arena.

Because Christ has sent the Holy Spirit to all true believers Matt. 3:11; Luke 12:12; John 14:26,20:22 are a few passages that refer to this. The Holy Spirit gives wisdom and conviction to all His children, not just the Pope.

It is the Holy Spirit that lives within a believer that interprets the Bible for us not man.

    John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

This shows that man cannot determine what needs to be done to please God, but only God can tell you what needs to be done.
