why separate categories?

Some prefer one to the other - they attract different types of people. There seems to be more Fundy Wackjobs here than in M&F.

M&F is a pretty slow forum, if you've ever spent any time there... the few people who hang out there wouldn't know what to do in here sometimes.

And yes, they are different. M&F extends beyond the religious or the spiritual. Some examples just from US history are Zorro, the Lone Ranger, and Paul Bunyan.

I answer questions in "religion and spirituality" and totally ignore questions in "mythology and folklore".

That right there is enough to say there is a big difference between the two.

Because the people in Mythology and Folklore don't want to put up with us crazies in R&S.

particular, yet then you definately will need human beings desirous to split rock and steel. Then each and all of the sub genres of those. additionally mainstream and underground. It gets messy, and it ends up in numerous BS arguments. yet i'm inquisitive approximately keeping apart pop and rock.

a religion (christianity for example) is a way of life as well as a way to worship a higher power (in this case, God). religions are also founded by a specific and historical person. a myth is simply any story told to explain how something came to be. it has little or nothing to do with how someone lives their lives. there are many different versions of the same myths and can rarely be traced to their origin.

religion has the ability to transcend cultures and ages. myths do not.

folklore is a story based on a local legend or a local story. it may or may not be based on a historical event.

as for your evidence and reason comment: many of the best minds of the past 2,000 years have written logical books and essays on the reason behind christianity. you may like to try something by st. augustine or mere christianity by c.s. lewis. evidence of God? personally, i see it in the complexity of dna, the beauty of the sunset, and the mere fact that i can comprehend such things.
