Lactose intolerant or not
I always wondered if I'm lactose intolerant or not. I can't eat anything dairy except for some sorts of cheeses. I love cheese, I always crave it, though some types like goat cheese or cream cheese I can't eat. I've been like this all my life (I'm 24). I can also eat some flavored ice cream that doesn't have obvious dairy taste. But that's it, I never even fry on butter.
Am I considered lactose intolerant?
Is it bad that I eat only cheese and do it very often?

Actually, you can't tell if you're lactose intolerant without a test. Some people who are lactose intolerant actually can eat vanilla Haagen-Dazs and drink milk without any noticeable problems. The degree of lactose intolerance varies from person to person. While aged cheese tends to have less lactose, regular cheese may contain a significant amount. The only way to tell for sure is the hydrogen test. It's basically a measure of how much hydrogen you breathe out after ingesting some lactose after fasting overnight. If your body does not properly digest the lactose, bacteria will, thus producing the H2 gas which is monitored over time to determine whether you are indeed lactose intolerant.

Lactose Intolerance On this page: What is lactose intolerance? What are the symptoms of lactose intolerance? How is lactose intolerance diagnosed? What causes lactose intolerance? Who is at risk for lactose intolerance? How is lactose intolerance treated? How is nutrition balanced? What is hidden lactose? Summary For More Information What is lactose intolerance? Lactose intolerance is the inability to digest significant amounts of lactose, the major sugar found in milk. Lactose intolerance is caused by a shortage of the enzyme lactase, which is produced by the cells that line the small intestine. Lactase breaks down milk sugar into two simpler forms of sugar called glucose and galactose, which are then absorbed into the bloodstream. Not all people deficient in lactase have the symptoms commonly associated with lactose intolerance, but those who do are said to have lactose intolerance. People sometimes confuse lactose intolerance with cow’s milk intolerance because the symptoms are often the same. However, lactose intolerance and cow’s milk intolerance are not related. Being intolerant to cow’s milk is an allergic reaction triggered by the immune system. Lactose intolerance is a problem caused by the digestive system.

You can always try a pill such as Lactaid and see if that helps when eating dairy.
