I have had low progesterone with both pregnancies and was put on prometrium. It will usually stop the bleeding completely, but a little blood here and there (so long as there is no cramping or sudden loss of pregnancy symptoms etc) Also if the blood is dark it is usually ok, but if it is pink or bright red that can indicate a problem. I would however notify your doctor and just let them know what is going on - they may want to check it out.

It is supposed to help make the pregnancy viable, but unfortunately, you usually have to have been taking it before you even got pregnant. My doctor put me on it at cycle day 21 b/c I had had a miscarriage prior to that with a very low progesterone level. When I found out I was pregnant at cycle day 29, I had already been on the progesterone for 8 days. I continued to take it for 5 weeks.
As for the bleeding, if you aren't cramping, I wouldn't worry about it. But if you are having a miscarriage, the progesterone won't stop it. Once a miscarriage starts, there's nothing you can do.
Signs of a miscarriage are cramping and red blood. Brown blood and no cramping is not something to be worried about.

At 7 weeks my dr found my progesterone levels to be low and put me on progesterone, I didn't start using it immediately, the following day I spotted and used the progesterone and it cleared up. A week later, I spotted again and cleared up that same day. I used 2 suppositories a day. During all this time, I only had that one day of spotting while being on it. Next week I will be 20 weeks pregnant with my first too. If you really are very worried about the baby's wellbeing check in with your dr.

Hello & congrats! I started spotting at 6 weeks pregnant also& my Dr. put me on prometrium 200mg orally a day. My spotting continued, but turned brown instead of pink like it had been. So my Dr doubled my dose and my spotting quit completely within a few days. I spotted all together 13 days it was very scarry, and my Dr. said Progesterome prevents misscarage due to low hormone levels, but it does not actually stop the bleeding. The bleeding stops when the hormone kicks in and does it's job. I am now off the medication completely & I'm 14 weeks preggo YEAH!!!! Try to rest as much as possible & try not to stress because it's bad for the pregnancy. Relax & believe that everything will be ok! God bless you & your baby!
