What is x if: e^x = 2
How do you manipulate this sum so that you can find out x? I know the answer is 0.69 but how do you get there?

Take the natural log of both sides:
ln(e^x)=ln2
x*ln(e)=ln2
x*1=ln2
x=ln2, which is 0.69

this is a natural log. just like using logs you want to take the opposite of e to find out what x equals. if this was a log the opposite would be to take 10^2. the opposite of e is ln (or natural log). so the way to set it up is ln(2). since the original equation is equal to 2. so the answer is .69. this is hard to explain so let me give you another example. let's say e^x=9. you want to do the same thing we did last time so set it up as ln(9) to get approximately 2.20. i hope i was of some help. i'm really sorry if i confused you. good luck with future math problems!
