Qugel
Which floor would you choose to live in an apartment?
I'm moving into an apartment soon (from uni residence) and there are one unit available in each floor (ground, 2nd and the top floor). What would your choice be and why?
I think ground floor is nice and it has some more space (back yard) whereas the 2nd and 3rd floors get a moderately sized balcony and a bit more breeze. The downside is that the ground floor is a bit shady while the top is reachably by staircase only, and the middle can possibly be affected by a little more noise.
5 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoHow do I convince/get my grandparents to throw away junk in the house?
My aunt and my grandparents live together and since the beginning of time my grandparents keep everything that comes into the house. My aunt is genuinely tired of asking them to throw away trash or things that can be recycled or not needed, because every time this happens they get into a fight. She's asked me to convince them to clean up a little bit. I asked them nicely and the same happens, and replied sarcastically telling me that why am I being like my aunt and why would you chuck away stuff like apples...
The junk is not "apples", but rather things like cardboard boxes, newspapers, plastic bags, disposable cups & utensils and even a broken tumble dryer, everything you can imagine has been piling up in the kitchen, living room, dining room, staircase etc. There is no place to walk or put proper stuff and this is a new house they've just moved in. You can probably imagine the amount of dust gathering on top of those things and they've bought air purifiers to "get rid of the problem"... They are really nice people and they feel it's a waste to dispose of them but really this is getting to the extreme.
How would you convince them if you're in this situation?
5 AnswersFamily1 decade agoAdvice for "Neat casual and normal company workwear"?
I've got a short uni aerospace course happening next week and we are going on an outing to our local airport and the dress code is "Neat casual and normal company workwear". Can you suggest what would be appropriate? I don't like buttoned/collared shirts but I think it'll be inevitable.
1 AnswerEtiquette1 decade agoSo many people are watching my eBay item but no one's offering/buying?
I'm selling my nearly new Mac Mini on eBay and there's currently 9 people watching it and has only 3 days left to go... I've put out a really low buy-it-now price with the best offer option. I'm losing some money trying to sell it already and I really can't afford to go any lower. It has been viewed 100+ times but I've received no offers nor purchasers... just watchers. Why???
4 AnswersOther - Advertising & Marketing1 decade agoDo you ride a bike? What do you think of bike racks?
Hi all
There's a bike rack design thing going on in my uni, so I think I should ask fellow Mac Rumours readers about parking your bikes in public places.
So... I'd like to know what elements will make a good rack design, such as the reach height (you don't want to bend over), easy access, security, placement/locations and aesthetics and so on.
I think most of you would be glad if there's a space available, so I'm also thinking on optimising the space to pack bikes efficiently. As an engineering student I'll be worrying about the manufacturing procedures, durability and cost, and some other required specifications and make sure the user gets what he/she wants in the end.
Also, are there any particular bike rack designs that you HATE? Please shout out.
Thanks a lot
5 AnswersCycling1 decade agoIs there anything not made in Australia in New Zealand?
Hi,
I'm a South African (that explains quite a lot) student studying in Oz at the moment. I've noticed basically anything I buy (from shampoo to breakfast cereal) all have Oz and NZ mentioned on the labels along with "Made in Australia" or "Product of Australia". So do the Kiwis import almost everything from the Aussies?
Thanks.
11 AnswersOther - Australia1 decade agoIf I auction a whole box of chocolates on eBay, would you bid it?
Hi guys,
I've got a whole box of chocolates but it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to finish them. I got them as gifts but it's been sitting in my room for a while now (they're still a long time till expiry), so I really want to get rid of them as quickly as possible. When I mean a whole box, I mean it's like it fills a storage container, something like a 50x30x20 cm box.
I'm international student studying abroad so there's only me in the room. I can't share them with friends everyday can I?! it's also impossible to bring chocolates to uni everyday.
Anyway do people actually bid for chocolates on eBay or would I just be wasting eBay selling fees?
P.S. I got other kinds of foodstuff as well so I need to give them away. I just dunno who to give to!
10 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoHave you guys seen this Germany jersey before?
See this picture:

I've looked everywhere online but I still don't know if this jersey is real. Probably a training jersey but I've never seen it before. It looks similar to the current training jersey but it's not the same! and also, it says "formotion" at the bottom corner... but that typeset is only recently introduced meaning that this jersey should be recently made -- which i find it impossible to scour on the internet...
1 AnswerOther - Soccer1 decade agoIt's the first time I'm bidding on eBay, do you have any experiences that I should know?
I'm bidding on eBay for the first time on 3 items, and they're from pretty reliable sellers...
i'm bidding on stuff that i'm currently winning the bid and there's like 2 days left. i really hope that i'll win the bid without someone raising it in the last minute -- does this usually happen during the last few hours of the bid?
so I guess I have to pay by paypal but is that safe? and how do I tell the seller that i've paid? do I just send him the message and my shipment address?
what do I do if I haven't received my stuff in the time the seller promised?
anything else important?
thank you.

1 AnswerHomework Help1 decade agoWhat do you wear everyday at university?
I would like to know what you typically wear to uni... I don't like to be formal as I always wear track suit pants (or shorts in summer) and a t-shirt (with a plain long sleeve t-shirt under in winter, and a hoodie sometimes). As for shoes. I always wear cross trainers, but I'm looking into shoes like adidas originals, although I don't know if people actually walk around the campus with cross trainers. I'm going to uni soon so I'd like to know how to blend in with everyone.

Hi all,
my friend recently invited me to his 18th birthday party. A few of my friends are going too, but they said that they'll get me drunk and puke all over and make myself a fool. I am not a party animal and I don't like drinking.
What do I do now? I don' t want to get drunk and get wasted. Should I go? If I don't go how do I excuse myself?
