If I auction a whole box of chocolates on eBay, would you bid it?

Hi guys,

I've got a whole box of chocolates but it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to finish them. I got them as gifts but it's been sitting in my room for a while now (they're still a long time till expiry), so I really want to get rid of them as quickly as possible. When I mean a whole box, I mean it's like it fills a storage container, something like a 50x30x20 cm box.

I'm international student studying abroad so there's only me in the room. I can't share them with friends everyday can I?! it's also impossible to bring chocolates to uni everyday.

Anyway do people actually bid for chocolates on eBay or would I just be wasting eBay selling fees?

P.S. I got other kinds of foodstuff as well so I need to give them away. I just dunno who to give to!

Update:

I am going to auction them starting at $0.99 as I really need to get rid of them. I'm not planning to make any profit from the chocolates!!

Update 2:

Oh and if I do get enough responses I'll put them up on eBay, basically some chocolates are from Japan, and some are from elsewhere.

The stuff is in Australia so postage is around about $10-$15 including a box. So it's not too feasible for overseas bidders.

and why the heck would I drug the chocolates if my only reason is to get rid of them since it's clogging up my room? it's people think that way gets me annoyed.

I've got all these food in my room and really, I would hate to see them expire and chucked away if I can give them to someone who wants them.

I wouldn't buy any kind of food stuff on ebay. I may go to godiva for chocolate, but never from some random person.

I'm sure your a nice guy/girl but really how does anyone know that the package has not been tampered.

Ebay goes up in increments of about .25 cents i think. The other three bidders could have placed a maximum bid of $30 but ebay doesn't show that. It just shows the auction going up by 25 cents or a small amount like that. You never really know how much a person has put as their maxiumum bid and even if the bid says $5.40 and you bid $6.00 as your maximum bid someone could still outbid you just by putting a higher maximum bid. I hope i helped because this confused me FOREVER but I finally understand ebay

I would imagine most people would not buy food products from an individual.

Also bear in mind that if you auction for $0.99 and it sells at that price you will be out of pocket as you still need to pay ebay fees to list the box, then fees when you sell it, and then more fees if they pay by Paypal.

And you must have a Paypal account to sell through ebay.com.au now.

How will you ship a box of Chocolates safely in Australian temperatures?

I sell Lollies and Chocolate on ebay as a business and also have our food licensing.

We use Foam Boxes and Ice Bricks so thats another $6.50 on top of postage to protect the gods during travel.

Best advice - Eat them, if they have plenty of date on them then you will have plenty of time to work your way through them. Share with the neighbours.

Source(s): I own a lolly shop and use ebay to sell Lollies and Chocolates.

I would not sell perishables online and chocolates is one them. Even though you say they will last a long time before expiring, we only have your word and forgive me for saying that is not enough. With summer coming, they could melt which could leave a really messy package which could lead to several problems to you. You might get complaints from the buyer, EBAY, and USPS. If USPS knew what you were sending in the mail, they probably would not allow it in the mail. I would try to eat what you can or give them to your friends or co-workers to eat. If this does not work, just throw them out.

I have never actually seen food for sale on ebay, but I personally wouldn't buy chocolates over the internet.

    I wouldn't bid, no.

No offense, but you can probably get them cheaper at the supermarket, where you don't pay P&P, and you might have put drugs in them or something!
