What should I do with the extra power wire that was used for the fan, since I'm only putting back up a light fixture? Should I just cap it & leave it in the fixture box?

    Yes. Twist on the wire nut and pull on it to make sure it doesn't come off. That's it.

    Yes, that way if anyone ever does want or need it, it is there. Make sure to cap it properly though.

    screw wire nuts on the wires, and tape the wire nuts that way your won't get a short .
