Can I add uncooked sausage to pasta sauce to cook?
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but can I add uncooked sausage to marinara sauce to cook the sausage? I don't know why I'm drawing a blank to this one!

Usually I cook the meet first in a separate pan, drain off the fat and then add the sauce to that, just to be safe. Though I guess it depends on how long you're planning to simmer the marinara; if you think the sausage will be cooked by the time the sauce is done simmering, then go ahead.

The easiest thing to do would be to brown it first, but if you don't want to do that, I would suggest making meatballs out of the sausage and cooking them, along with the sauce, in a crock pot for about 6 hours. I know someone who does that with beef, but pork is a little iffier...if it were me, I'd just go on and brown the sausage first.

I would maybe at least brown it in a pan and get it going before throwing it in the Marinara. You should simmer your sauce, and I'm not sure if that would be enough to cook the sausage through.

You can add it to the sauce. Just make sure it is cooked thoroughly. Now the down side, the grease from the sausage will be in your sauce. I would brown it first, then drain the fat away, then add it to your sauce.

You can, but you have to cook the sauce really, really thoroughly to get the meat to a safe temperature. It's a lot easier (and safer) to quickly brown the sausage, then add it to the sauce... plus you don't get quite to much grease in the sauce.

yes you can. As long as the sauce and sausauge both attain a temp of 160 you will be fine..sauteeing the sausage fir will help to add some flavaor. just flash saute it. very hot pan brown quickly. this will help bring out some of the fat so your sauce doesn't get a greasy film.

Yeah you could. What kind of sausage? Links or meat that could break apart? If if could be crumbled then it should break up while cooking info fine pieces, just make sure you have a lot of time to simmer the sauce.

Absolutely not!
You saute it first in olive oil, drain, THEN add it to your sauce. Small tip; cook the sausage with a little onion & garlic & you'll really have a tasty treat.
