It's regarded as an acceptable "QUICK FIX" by most of modern day society to medicate with perscription drugs. I'll bet that his friends & family are of a similar mindset. I came from a family who took scripts for every type of ache & pain & they were perscribed by a licensed physician. I, in turn, used street drugs, then added alcohol, then began to mix all three at one point & it's amazing that I didn't die!

I had to eliminiate all contact with my family members in order to get my thinking straightened out. Many of my family members are in prison because they couldn't or wouldn't stop using & abusing drugs & alcohol.

I chose a different route with my life & was able to spare my child a repeat performance of this dangerous lifestyle of living on the edge. We all have to make choices & some people die so the rest of us can be reminded of where we'd like our own lives to go, as well as where we have once been.

Heath Ledger died for a good reason & left a part of himself on film as a parting shot of the hidden side of life that many of us have inside of us & never discuss with the outside world. I send him & others my thanks for all their good deeds, so that some of us can see we're not alone in our darkness! RIP HEATH...RIP.

I think being suddenly thrust into the spotlight of fame and fortune brings about a change in lifestyle one does not anticipate....It is something you work hard to achieve, and suddenly you have not only the satisfaction of getting there, you also have all the pressure of being there, and maintaining your stature....If I were as famous as Elvis was, I could not go to my mother's for a quiet Sunday dinner, as the house would be mobbed...And John Lennon, found he couldn't walk down the street of his own neighborhood...Jody Foster had an "adoring" fan, whom she had to be horrified of....Fame and notoriety brings a heavy load of psychological demons. Are your friends really your friends, or just there to be seen in the spotlight and for you to pick up the tab?. Some people can cope with the pressure, some can't..But fame can isolate you to where you feel hopeless at times...I don't understand using drugs, as life gives me all the high I need, but who knows what a person will do when put under such stress....

When you have celebrities passing out drugs like candy this is what happens NO ONE needs 3 pain pills 2 sleepibg pills and 2 different muscle relaxers plus alcohol.. he enjoyed the buzz till his breathing stopped. It's odd how doctors have no problem pumping up an actor but if you are a regular joe take an ibuprophen and drink some warm milk!

First of all, I don't think anyone HAS to resort to prescription drugs. It's a personal choice and as with every choice we make, there are consequences. In this situation, the consequence was addiction which eventually ended up in overdose. We don't seem to realize that when drugs are misused and taken in excess of how they are prescribed or missed with other prescription drugs, it doesn't take very long before they become toxic in our bodies. I'm sure there aren't too many people who take and mix excessive prescription drugs do it with the intention of overdosing. Their self medicating gets out of control and like any drug, you eventually need more and more.

It doesn't seem to cross their mind that they can try things like healthy diet, lots of rest, and a healthy lifestyle can resolve many of the physical problems we have.

If you have a neurochemical imbalance in the brain, all the friends and family can't substitute for the medications needed to bring it back into balance.

i'm not really sure, but I have seen the movie and his character is VERY intense, so maybe the role just got to him. we will never know, because we don't know, or shall I say didn't know him. we don't know what was really going on in his personal life, despite all media being in his and everyone else's business. I guess all that we can do is speculate.

And if you haven't seen the movie yet, you should, it was really good, and he did a wonderful job!

We don't even really know that is the issue... Family and or Friends can be the Problem most times...Some find Pills to be a Quick Fix...but then realize it is not...take more and more...there in lies the problem...or shall I say another problem...

    You think like I do.

I can't figure that out.The only reason I have come up with is he didn't want his Friends / Family to know what he was taking.Or at least some of them. 8/6

I have mixed thoughts about that. At any rate, he was a major young talent and I will miss him.

nicely..... the countless pills he took have been for insomnia, what are you able to talk on your persons and relatives approximately no longer being waiting to sleep?? i think of human beings could provide up over analysing why he died, how he died, what if this or that...
