I want to learn about investing, how it works, how much money do I need, how much is my profit???

I want to start investing but I don't have a clue what so ever on how it works. Is there any websites/books that can break it down for me so that I can start learning and understanding about investing???

Any advice that you can give me??? or a commond mistake that I can avoid???

    If you have a community college in your area, check to see if they offer a course in personal finance. If you are close to a library, read the Wall Street Journal and Investors Business Daily, newspapers published every day...if you can tolerate it.

    First, set a goal. If you want to accumulate wealth for the long term, look to mutual funds that track the S & P 500 index. You will be owning parts of the best companies in the US. T Rowe Price has such a fund. The initial investment is $2,500. It is even less if you are opening an IRA...individual retirement account.

    Your motto should be: "Better to be safe than sorry." It means don't get greedy and take big chances.
