Whats Your Opinion about this statement?

Well.....i recently came across this statement...

"There are only Two Periods..Past And Future...Present is just a spontaneous fleeting moment"

I feel..that's a great statement....Nice Said....

What about you all??

All your opinions are welcome!

Have A Great Day:))

Update:

well well well...folks...i am not talking about "Today'' as present.....nor tomo as future or yesterday as past....i'm talking about this statement with respect to "moment''(can be related to a fraction of second)....a day is very big unit !.....and if we say...Present...then what do we mean by ''present''...present definately doesn't means today(acc. to me)....can you express your views regarding this?

Thanks Madhavi....

Update 2:

no doubt...i completely agree with all of you who said...past and future occur only when present occurs....Fully Agree:)

This is true, from the standpoint of our ability to think critically about time.

Yes its a true statement when viewed in a specific way actually.. ofcourse present is like an ongoing moment and like the flowing river.. however past and future are like big time phases.. one known the other ot known.. present hence becomes dynamic.. while past and future seem to be static..

However, just to view the statement with a different perspective, i wudn't call present "just a fleeting moment".. coz its the most important of the 3 phases- past..present..future.. If one learns to live the present.. one learns how to " live life" ...

past is the teacher.. future is the mystery or the hope.. present is where all the work can be done.. hence.. its of gr8 importance...

However, i do understand the persepective with which this statement had been said.. and its a gr8 statement when viewed with that angle :)

    Good Q GGR !

This statement is too true. Things of only one second back is past and what comes after one second is future so that is really no space for present which last only for a moment and then convert to past.

I certainly like your statement, but I am not sure I agree with it. I think the past is essential to our growth and having valuable life changing events. I think the future is filled with all our hopes and desires. Today....? Today should be filled with joy, and loving every moment of your life. You should wake up each day, and be thankful to be alive. Be excited about the people you might meet that day, or the one person you might touch, and then change their lives. There is a lot to happy about with just enjoying each day, regardless if you have big excitement or amazing adventure.

There is a saying that I love ....

Yesterday is HISTORY, Tomorrow a MYSTERY, and Today is a GIFT!

    Thanks for reading!

I agree with you. The statement was nicely said.

I guess, the periods for the person who said this quotation meant the same as an end where a conclusion had been decided or will be decided on. Logically speaking, it's pretty realistic because the present is where we think of what next step to take. Therefore present is not considered as another step or process of our being. Well, that's how I perceive it.

I DONT really think there are only two periods. Remember , without the PRESENT , there wont be a past or future.Thats why there is a Yesterday , TODAY and Tommorrow. Can you make this statement "I was going, or i will be going whilst you ARE going?. the present is not a fleeting moment. thks

I think the past, present, and future are not in context of counting of second, which means that your present lasts only in one tick !

But I tend to relate the past, present and future to an event, which makes them have value.

Present is going to past someday ! i liked the statement but do give equal importance to past , future , & present too as all are equally important part of the life !

Present was future once upon a time , & it is going to past one day !

Anee wala pal jaane wala hai !!!! ooopss go & enjoy !!! don't waste this moment you know time & tide waits for none !

Its great to hear new quotes & thoughts & I'm always seeking such sayings but my theory is the other way round-

There's only PRESENT which exists, "past" is the present which is gone, "future" is the present yet to come.!

I disagree. present is also a period. Not as long. Besides. Which is the past? And the future?

Don't believe these kind of inane opinion. There are also opinions like 'All victims actually enjoy rape' or "All women are potential whores'. If these things are real or taken seriously, it means we are still not civilized and are animals.
