How do you convert an old AC system in a 89 Honda Prelude to a new r-134 system?
It's an SI if that matters. Also, I put two cans of r-134 in before I knew it had to be converted. Did I ruin my compressors? What has to be replaced?

how did you get it in?? the fittings are different
if the fittings were all ready changed your ok
if the fittings wernt and you actually had r12 in it you need to evac the system (pull a vacume into it) add some conversion oil to it and recharge it
pros have a machiene that will tell you what is in it you may want to get it done profecinaly this time

The entire system will need to be flushed, You have probably ruined the compressor as when you mix the two types of oil it will lock up the compressor. Once the system has been flushed, replace the compressor, receiver dryer and expansion device and recharge with r-134a and it will be fine.

You really shouldnt mix the two, all thats required is that you buy the screw on conversion nuts that let you use the R-134. You should vaccum out the system but Im sure you dont have the tools for that, so empty out the system, install 1 can of R-134, empty out the system again, then reinstall to the correct pounds.

r134 is not compatible with mineral oil in your compressor, it can ruin your compressor, if the system was empty of R12, you can add Esther oil which will make the Mineral oil compatible, if the system still has R12, stop using it and go to AC shop, the system will have to be evacuated and refilled with PAG oil and R134

I'm not sure what the videos posted have to say, but you should install a new dryer unit if you convert to R134a.

you have to replace pretty much all of your a/c components and then vacuum the system for about 30 mins, then u can charge it with r-134a
