Without knowing what was fixed, what operating system is being used, which browser, if the "page cannot be displayed" error occurs only on one site or all sites, etc it's difficult to offer specific advice. The most common reason for the error is the computer's cache of old cookies, temporary files, and history needs to be deleted. Old cache items can keep returning you to a non-working website or web page. This article from Boston University explains more. Click on your operating system logo and select your browser.

There are several other possible reasons including:
- The website you're trying to visit has issues, not your computer
- Your firewall is blocking access. Temporarily disable it.
- System or browser files are damaged, corrupt or missing. Repair.
Click start > control panel > double click "Network" icon. RIGHT-click your active connection icon and click "repair".
You'll need your install disk to run System File Checker. Click start > run > type: SFC /SCANNOW > click OK (note the space between sfc and /scannow.) Scan could take over an hour but will attempt to repair damaged/missing files.
You could also attempt to repair your browser by reinstalling. If you're using Firefox, Opera, etc click start > control panel > double click Add/Remove icon. Click on browser name to highlight > remove. Internet Explorer is part of the operating system and can't be removed by itself. But you can attempt a repair by reinstalling IE over itself. IE7 is at the top of the page and IE6 for Windows XP w/SP2 is in the left column.
