Any techs out there? Reformatted and mouse problems
I reformatted my sis's computer after she'd had lots of problems with viruses. I found out that she'd only been running Ad-Aware, no real virus program. Had tried to put AVG on there, and had problems after finding out that she hadn't been getting her downloads. Finally figured I'd just reformat and fix it all, and start from scratch.
My problem is: After a successful reformat, I was looking through programs, not yet online, and noticed that some of the USB drivers needed to be reinstalled. Before I could do that, the mouse quit working on me. We were weary after 3 hours at the computer, so we just decided to start fresh tomorrow.
I need to figure out how to get that mouse working in order to go any further. Can someone help me please?

Trying to fix up my sis's computer while housesitting for her. Tried to update a bit and add AVG free, but found out she didn't have service pack 2, can't make it work right without it. So I download that, and then get, "page cannot be displayed."
So I tell it to go back to where it worked properly, and find out that she used a different dial-up password when it worked properly, so can't even connect. That I can probably find out by asking her, but does anyone know how to fix the page cannot be displayed thing?

My sis has complained about getting viruses on her computer forever. I'm housesitting for her, so I thought I'd surprise her and fix things.
She has PeoplePC dial-up, and mainly uses the computer for e-mail and to book flights. I found out that she only has Ad-Aware 6 on there, and downloaded AVG. Found out the hard way that she hasn't had her updates in quite some time. She didn't have service pack 2 on her Dell with XP, so I downloaded that.
Afterward, I could not get online. Kept telling me that the page cannot be displayed. I wanted to update to Explorer 7, (she has 6), but I tried all I knew to do to get online, and although it does go online, cannot display the page.
Tried putting it back to the last known good configuration, and now it won't connect because in the past she'd used a different password. Says it's the wrong password. I would try to reformat, but then she will lose her PeoplePC account.
Any techs out there that can help? I need to get this figured out before she gets back. Don't want her mad at me. (I'm using my own computer to try to get some help).
2 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoRear-ended, anyone know the calculations for pain and suffering?
The other day I stopped for the guy in front of me to take a left turn in busy traffic, and the guy behind me was looking down instead of at the road. He rear-ended me and my trunk lid and bumper cover need to be replaced, and I got whiplash, aggravating an existing permanent injury that was caused by the same thing at a higher speed. This is the state of Washington, and I am unfamiliar with all this, since my other case ended in a jury trial.
Just wondering if anyone out there knows how the insurance companies come to a number on something that may be as permanent for pain and suffering as the last one was.

My son met up with a girl who he'd been crazy about for years. He paid for her divorce, and they were quite happy. She has 2 kids, a 5 year old girl and a boy going on 2. He has been very good to her, and asked her to marry him. She was quite happy about it. Then she got pregnant.
Then all of a sudden things changed. She wouldn't talk to him or cook or clean.
Then her daughter told her dad that my son slapped her in the face, and he called CPS. They investigated, and it turned out that she had lied. My son felt like a criminal in his own home, when he had done nothing wrong.
His woman had already been acting funny and wouldn't talk to him. We advised him to go home and talk to her and work it all out. When he got home, all he found was a note telling him that she was not happy. She had packed up clothes and said that she would come back for the rest of her things.
He's totally confused, and thinks maybe she was using him. Need objective feedback. I'm confused too!

Had HughesNet Satellite installed over 2 weeks ago. Tech forgot to adjust my settings, and I'm not sure how they should be since I had dial-up before. Keep getting the Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage, when things are set in network connections. Have to tell it to repair in order for it to work right. Anyone know what settings should all be?
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade agoAny mortgage brokers out there?
My son is trying to buy a house. He just sold one, that he'd had problems with because an ex girlfriend had spaced making the payment one month. The bank he was dealing with claimed that it was 2 payments, and wouldn't even work with him. They said that they were just going to foreclose. So he went to an attorney and filed chapter 13 bankruptcy to stop them. I spoke to a mortgage broker who was going to check his credit and get back to me. When he never called back, I got worried and checked his credit report. Everyone listed in the bankruptcy has reported late payments after it was filed, and the mortgage company claims that they had started foreclosure on it, and 120 days late. Is there some way that he can get this straightened up in a hurry? His offer was accepted on a house.
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoJust got connected to HughesNet after dial-up. Something's still not set right. Any wiz's out there?
I was having problems opening pages. Finally got through to tech support chat. Advised me that I needed to set proxy, which I figured, but still having a problem getting into my credit union account at times. When I hit secure log-in, sometimes it says that the page cannot be displayed. Other times it takes me right to it. Am not computer literate enough to find what needs to be adjusted. Any help would be much appreciated!
