The Mass follows the outline of a family reunion and the Last Supper:

    + Gather

+ Share stories (Liturgy of the Word)

+ Eat (Liturgy of the Eucharist)

    + Depart

    The Mass:

    • Is the principal sacramental celebration of the Catholic Church

    • Was established by Jesus at the Last Supper

    • Renews the mystery of our salvation through participation in the sacrificial death and glorious resurrection of Christ

    In the Mass, we:

    • Gather as one family

    • Admit our sins, ask God for forgiveness, and the saints and each other for prayer and support

    • Glorify God

    • Listen to, ponder and reflect on His Word from the Scriptures

    • Pray for the Church, the world, those in need, and ourselves

    • Celebrate the Eucharist (Holy Communion) in obedience with Christ's command to "do this in memory of me."

    • Are sent out into the world to love and serve the Lord and one another

It is called "Mass" (from the Latin missa) because of the "mission" or "sending" with which the liturgical celebration concludes.

Of course the most important of all is the holy sacrifice of the Mass. The consecration of the bread and wine into the body, blood, soul, and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ as He commanded. I would say the other important idea is that the mass should always be in Latin. If it is always said in the same language, and a dead language that cannot be altered, then the exact same Mass would be offered everywhere in the world. It wouldn't matter if you were in Brazil, France, Denmark, England, America, or any other part of the world. The Mass would be exactly the same. The words would never be changed and could never be tampered as the Council of Trent so decreed. If any man change the words of the Mass, let him be anathema. The Latin Mass has been said the same exact way for at least 1000 years.

Besides the Real presence of Christ in Holy Communion.

The Catholic Mass allows those participating to be mystically present at the foot of the cross outside of time.

It also allows those participating to become united with the perpetual Divine Liturgy taking place in Heaven.

    1. Where ever the Catholic sun doth shine there's always music, laughter and good red wine.

This idea is that God speaks to us within his creation. That means that bread and wine have the ability to nourish us physically and within the Eucharistic celebration to transform into the body and blood of Jesus to nourish us spiritually. The world is good because God created it.

    2. It's not just me and Jesus. Catholics believe that we are to be in community with one another. The Church is not a building, but a family of Christians. When we are baptized into the body of Christ we belong to a world wide family. This also gives us responsibilities to minister to others.

No, the Catholic Church isn't the only church that believes this. The Catholic Church must be the only substantial church that believes particularly in transubstantiation, yet even the Catholic Church does not require this particular concept, for it to evaluate a church's Eucharist valid (the eastern Orthodox have not got faith in transubstantiation yet are seen valid with the aid of Catholics). The eastern Orthodox, Assyrian, and varnish national Catholic church homes all have faith that Jesus is definitely present, and the Catholic Church recognizes their apostolic succession as valid. some Anglicans have faith that Jesus is definitely present, however the Catholic Church does not understand their apostolic succession. regardless of if their succession have been many times valid, great numbers of Anglican clergymen have been "ordained" with the aid of female "bishops," so there are great issues for apostolic succession in Anglicanism. Lutherans have faith that Jesus is definitely present; yet in assessment to Catholics, we've faith that the authority to have fun the Eucharist is contained interior the words of Jesus Himself and such authority exists everywhere His observe is validly taught. Apostolic succession, for Lutherans, is a human company that would arguably be of fee. It has has been retained interior the Swedish church, yet in accordance to Catholics, the Council of Trent invalidated this succession (and the Swedish church additionally has the female ordination situation). one greater observe: somebody stated Lutherans have faith in consubstantiation. it is not actual. Consubstantiation is the concept that the bread and wine are mixed which includes Jesus' physique and blood; and that i don't be attentive to of any modern-day church that believes this. there is extremely some confusion approximately this: some non-Lutherans accused us of believing it, and a few sick-counseled Lutherans heard the accusation and concept it to be actual. now you will locate poorly researched Lutheran information superhighway web content and literature that use this observe, however the authors does not use it in the event that they knew what it definitely meant.

Probably Transubstantiation, where they believe that the body and blood of Christ, when blessed by the priest, becomes the body and blood and are not just symbols.

Another thing that they do is prey to Mary, don't confuse it with worshiping as I know some Catholic bashers here try to pull that card, where as far to my knowledge a most of the other churches don't prey to Mary. They also believe that she's a virgin.

In Lutheranism, the service is divided into the Word part and the Sacrament of the Altar part. It's probably the same in the RCC, too.

The first half is when we learn about God and Christ and the 2nd half is when we partake of communion as full members.
