Part Exchange / Private Sale
Hello we are looking to change our Land Rover Freelander and can't decide on whether or not to trade it in or sell it ourselves, It's in really nice condition with no known faults - we just fancy a change.
Can anyone advise us please
Thanks in advance

private sale = higher return, but slower time until return depending on market demand for vehicle. If you can afford it, go to car dealer, make deal to purchase the vehicle you want, and have your used vehicle appraised as a trade in by them. Then tell them you changed your mind about trading it in, and buy the new car outright without the trade in. Take their trade-in offer and add $2000 bucks to their price, that is a good starting point for an asking price. They are going to put it on the lot for at least that much more, actually a little closer to$2500- $2700 more than their trade-in offer is a more accurate rough figure. As long as you sell it for more than their trade-in offer, you gained that much more.

You usually come out ahead if you sell it yourself. When you trade it in, the dealer has to keep the price low enough so that he can make money on the resale.
Of course when you sell it yourself, you have to buy ads, put up ads, and have people look at it. If you don't mind doing that ( a lot of people don't ) then you would come out with more money if you sold it yourself.

sell it youre self it may take a while but its worth the return when you advertise dont just advertise it in the local paper or on ebay try specialist magazines like off roading mags or landrover magazine as then you will reach the target market for this type of vehicle
