Did Heath Ledger Just Imitate Jerry Lewis for 3 Hrs. in the Dark Knight?

Everyone says, Academy Award. The performance was unoriginal, shameful and ridiculous. See Jerry Lewis in the Nutty Professor. Everyone else performed as if asleep. The Rachel actress was just too ugly to inspire competition between two top rank males. The saving grace was the beauty of Chicago, and the subtle acting of Michael Cain.

Update:

I agree. Morgan Freeman did not mistake the imitation of wood for seriousness of purpose.

Update 2:

Bayley: I want the name of your English teacher. I will beat her with a stick.

Totally agree with you about Maggie G.

She is NOT exactly eye candy.

As far as Heath "The Corpse" Ledger's performance... it was okay, but definitely NOT as great as everybody is hyping it up to be.

Imitate Jerry Lewis? If anything it was closer to Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange, but Heath Ledger got inspiration from Alex. Since when do looks improve acting I thought Maggie Gyllenhaal was great and much better then Katie Holmes.

You apparently didn't see the same movie I saw. I thought it was great and heath ledger did a great job. I don't think the Rachel actress was as good as the original but not too bad. I do agree with you on the acting of Michael Cain but Morgan Freeman did a great job too.

...though I thought that Heath Ledger's performance and the Joker was probably one of the most disturbing, and outright evil incarnations set forth, so far, I can honestly say that I wasn't necessarily so much reminded of Jerry Lewis' character in "The Nutty Professor", then I was more reminded of Jeff Goldblum's twitchy, lip-licking, and progressively deteriorating 'Brundlefly' character, in the '80's remake of "The Fly"...

Nah, not at all. It's different. Just pay more attention to Lewis's expressions, it's not the same and Ledger's performance is way better and more creative. Lewis is just your typical geek in the nutty professor.

Can't imagine that you and i saw the same film and know EVERYTHING there is to know about movies. Heath Ledger's performance was scary good and he played it like a real champ, putting his own stamp on the role. And Maggie Gyllanhal might not be your type, but she certainly doesn't deserve such a nasty, judgmental comment.

I think he played it off quite nice...

the script called for seriousness...and he was very good at that.

Also, what all is there to be excited about? He had to save people... and kill people too...

He may have just been a manic depressent.

How stoned and/or drunk were you to reach that conclusion, while you were watching the movie online? And the "two top rank males" line makes you sound suspect, BTW.

Well, to each his own. I could go on and on about how I disagree, but, whatever. But, what's the question again?
