Does working the triceps count as working out the arms?
My question may sound stupid, but I have read in like a hundred places that when you exercise you need to have a day of rest between each muscle group.
For example, right now I am exercising my chest and biceps one day, then the next day my abs, then the next day back to my chest, and alternating so on and so forth.
I want to add in some tricep workouts but don't know if I need to add them on the day with the arms or if I can do them on the day with the abs.
I mean if I exercise my triceps the day after I excersice my biceps, will my arms be recovered enough to get any improvement? Or should I just stick with exercising the whole arm every other day?
Thanks for the answers! And if you have any tricep routines that work well, let me know!
Someone commented saying I need to exercise all muscle groups. So besides what I am already doing what other groups are there?
The back, shoulders, legs? I don't know any exercises for those.

Think about the motion. When you do, say, a chest press, your pecs, triceps and deltoids (shoulders) all get worked. When you do a row or a chin up, your biceps and back are getting worked. If you're alternating between chest/biceps then abs then repeat, I'd put the triceps with the chest workout. Dips work wonders, and of course plain old tricep extensions.
Be careful you're not ignoring other muscle groups, you can get into trouble if you let yourself get unbalanced.

Here's what I do and it works:
Monday: chest, back and shoulders
Tuesday: cardio 3 mile run
Wednesday: legs (calves, hamstrings... etc.)
Thursday: cardio 3 mile run
Friday: biceps, triceps and forearms
Saturday: abs
Sunday: day off
OR
Monday: back, biceps, forearms
Tuesday: cardio 3 mile run
Wednesday: legs
Thursday: cardio 3 mile run
Friday: chest, triceps and shoulders
Saturday: abs
Sunday: day off
You don't have to do the cardio, but it is highly reccomended to have atleast 20-30 minutes of cardio on your days off. It is best to give the muscle groups atleast a day off inbetween workout days. Good luck!

I shouldn't really matter. I put biceps, triceps, and forearms into one day simply because it'll cover the entire arm.

Doesn't matter where you put it since you're not working them out right now so you won't be overworking yourself. I like to do all my arm stuff in one day.
