Idina Menzel as Elphaba in Wicked Movie?

No, she's too old to play a college aged character, and they'll probably star-cast the role.

There is no confirmed cast for the Wicked movie. In fact, Idina said she would more likely end up playing Elphaba's grandmother than Elphaba herself in the movie in an interview she did on a radio show earlier this year.

But they will find some way to get her in there.

All of the characters are young (late teens/college-early-mid20s), and Idina is in her late 30s and Kristin just turned 40.

I think that Idina would at least have some sort of a cameo in the movie, seeing as she's the original Elphaba, but she may be a little old at that point to play someone who's in college...who knows? I hope so, though!

Its a tough call. Idina is getting older. But that isn't always a big deal for film. It is a possibility that she will be Elphie, but it doesn't seem likely.

My personal favorite for the role is Caissie Levy. Every single thing about her is perfect. Acting, singing, appearance, and cackle. She could even pass herself off as a younger Margaret Hamilton. She left LA's production for medical reasons. Doing the role every night would eventually have caused irreversible damage to her voice. But being in a film wouldn't require that of her. It would be a great way for her to get the widespread recognition she deserves.

Maybe, Idina Menzel is great on camera. She has a great presence on stage and film. If you've seen RENT she looks GREAT on camera and her bone structure is pretty. Plus, her voice kicks butt!
