How to display flat-screen TV in this room (picture included.)?

That hole was built so that you can wall-mount the television. You will need a tilting wall-mount so that you can angle the television towards your eyes. The tv will not look right on a stand.

As for connecting other devices, no problem. All you will need is some in-wall certified cables.

Setting the tv at such a great height is harmful for the eyes and neck. It is harmful for the eyes because the eyes will always look up, and that induces eye fatigue. Its harmful for the neck because tilting the neck too much is very harmful and tiring. Wall mounting is the most impractical solution, because of the following reasons:

-you can't clean behind the TV

-you can't connect new devices to the tv

-it requires additional tools (wall mount, screws...)

-you have to drill in the wall

-it is usually not eye level

-you have to find a way to hide the wires running from the dvd players and devices to the tv.

-you can't move the tv

I suggest that you buy a separate tv unit and rest the tv on the stand. It is healthier and easier.

If the TV will fit I would use the base that comes with the TV. It will cost approximately $250 to have a flat screen TV installed to a wall. Another advantage to using the base is it will be easier to hook other components up like DVD player, VCR, DVR, etc.

Plus doing a wall mount makes it tougher when or if you move or replace the TV.

Well, for starter, a flat screen is a TV that has A flat creen.

From what I can tell, you are trying to hang a massive CRT tube tv with a flat screen.

LCDs and Plasmas are flat PANELS !!!
