WWIII beginning with Russia??!?!?

I was listening to the news last night and heard a number of things that REALLY SCARED THE LIVING LIGHTS OUT OF ME! I couldn't believe what I was hearing and I am only now in great fear as to what our government is planning to do with Russia.

Condie Rice stated that Russia seems to be unhappy with the outcome of the Cold War and is planning to start a new era. She also said that Russia is wrong if they think they can attack another country and attempt to overthrow them, and get away with it.

John McCain said in reference to Russia that Iraq saw what happened to them.

Other news topics talked about how Hitler got away with a lot before anyone stood up to him and we can't let that happen again.

And now I hear that the US is sending supplies AND SOLDIERS into Georgia! Anyone else panicking here?!?!

Update:

For anyone who doesn't realize it, Russia has THOUSANDS of nuclear bombs. We really don't want to get into a war with them.

Update 2:

yes this is in reference to the Russia/Georgia conflict. Keep in mind that Georgia started this mess and the US practically controls Georgia.

Update 3:

I know the US is sending humanitarian aid, but they are sending US soldiers with that aid. What if one of those soldiers was killed over there? Imagine what would happen then.

Yes, Uncle Sam has been preparing new round of cold war right after the collapse of former Soviet Union. Right after Gobachev disintegrated Soviet Union, Clinton made good friend with the heavy drining Russian Leader Boris Yeltsin, who gave in everything to US and seriously damaged Russian economy for many years. After Puttin succeeded Yeltsin, US realized Puttin is much tougher and smarter to deal with. To further weaken Russia, US has tied close relationship with those breakup Soviet republics that are surrounding Russia. In addition, US starts to recruit those republics together with Poland to join NATO. That is not enough, US plans to build a missle defense system at Russia's doorstep - Georgia. Russia has been watching carmly and carefully for years. After so many years' give in, the Russia president decide to respond to US's cold war challenge by heavily punishing Georgia as that idiot Georgia president launched sudden attack on its previous breakaway province while the world was watching Olympic Games. Back to your question, is there a cold war out there ? The answer is yes and US relationship with Russia will get colder and more hostile because Uncle Sam never trusted Russia to begin with and has never treated Russia as an international partner. As soon as Russia forms alliance with China and other nations, WWIII will not be too far away. This is what Uncle Sam wants, this is what we will get.

First off, Georgia did not start this, that was another excuse cooked up by Russia, as they have a tendency to do when they decide to overtake a smaller country. Think of the consequences of Russia's being able to just continue attacking Georgia without any interference? Do you think they'll stop with Georgia? No, they've got the war mindset now, their economy is screwed and war revs it up, not to mention Georgia's new democratic government is doing well financially and Russia wants it. We can't forget how Russia has acted towards smaller countries in the past, they're a global bully, always have been, always will be.

    Komrads!!!

I think this is very similar to Nazi Germany invading the Sudetenland. It's only the beginning of something bigger.

This has been in the works for a long time. You just don't have as many troops and tanks suddenly show up on the border of Georgia without serious planning and movement. I would not be surprised at all if the Russians were the ones to stir up trouble in South Ossetia in the first place.

However, I think this is more the beginning of Cold War II than the next all out global war.

To answer Komrad Old School above. I don't think the old Soviet Union anthem is appropriate anymore. Russia is more of a Fascist state now.

The heated rhetoric between US and Russia amounts to sabre rattling.

We are a long ways from a nuclear war; neither side will use them without extreme provocation. Both sides understand the implications of a nuclear exchange and the lose-lose aspects of such an exchange. Unlike Iran and Pakistan, I might add.

And comparisons to Nazi Germany are not applicable. The scenario in Georgia is remarkably similar to the recent conflicts in the Balkans and the Russian response to NATO's action in ending the instability there.

The interesting part about Georgia is how Democracy & voting fails.

Georgia has embraced the voting outlined by the Western countries. However, there are many tribes in Georgia who were not happy with the voting policies and cried "Fowl" to mother Russia. As far as I can attribute, there is a language barrier between the tribes (counties) in Georgia which is destroying their last elections.

When the U.S.A. doing of sending troops to iraq in the name of war against a dictator invaded the country. In his part, the Georgian president Saakashvili, as a friend of america doing aggression of south ossetia in some changing style.

unfortunately, Mikheil Saakashvili's plans misfired. The Georgian leader fatally misjudged Russia's will to intervene. Within 24 hours, Russian tanks rolled into south ossetia, decimating Georgian forces, while its warplanes flattened all major military facilities in Georgia.

The U.S. trained Georgian leader, brought to power in a U.S.engineered ''Rose revolution'' some 5 years ago and certainly, he will have the support from America, but not militarily.

Anyway, there will not be a 3rd world war and america also know the childish action of the Georgian president ordering his army to swoop down on south ossetia on Aug.7. The Russians doubting the vice-president of america was behind the attack by Georgia, so they gave a fitting reply by sending army and succeeded.

Anyhow, there will not be a world war III.

I don't think any thing will become of this. Just another footnote in history. If tensions were very high between Russia and the U.S. I would be more concerned. The US is sending humanitarian aid to Georgia not combat troops.

Yea Russia has a bunch of nukes and so do we. and neither side wants it to come to that but......... Its a bit scary though. "Something is in the air" life is changing, technology is growing faster by the minute. Looks like end times might be around the corner. That does frighten me a bit. I want nothing more but to see my children grow up. I want to finish my Life too but this could turn nasty.
