For Jehovah's Witnesses and others...Why do some say that instantly upon death Jesus went directly to Heaven?

Especially when the Bible is clear that he died, was buried and to fulfill his words, resurrected in 3 days time, and did not ascent until 40 days later(Acts 1:3).. John 2:18-22. Also keeping in mind Christ's own words after his resurrection. John 20:17 Jesus said to her: “Stop clinging to me. For I have not yet ascended to the Father.

How can we reason so that they will see the truth of this, and also of Luke 23:43 And he said to him: “Truly I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.” That Jesus wasn't promising that evildoer paradise that day, but at a time in the future.

What suggestions have you? How would you reason this?

Update:

Thank you friends. I also thought that the Bible explains it well, but am astounded at those who reject this simple truth.

I have also wondered where people get the notion that Christ spoke with demons while in the grave. I saw a question dealing with that yesterday. Weird.

Jesus Christ said: “No man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven, the Son of man.” (John 3:13) This clearly shows that no human had gone to heaven. Since Scripture tells us that Jesus was around on the earth over a Month after his resurrection and before ascending into Heaven- it would be ridiculous to think that the Evildoer preceded Christ in heaven and was there some 40 days AHEAD of Jesus.( Acts 1:1-4)

Jesus told his faithful apostles: “You are the ones that have stuck with me in my trials; and I make a covenant with you, just as my Father has made a covenant with me, for a kingdom, that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Luke 22:20, 28-30)

The Evildoer had Not " stuck with Jesus" in his trials and the mere fact that Jesus said " you will be with me in Paradise" did not Qualify this person for Heavenly Citizenship. So what Paradise would this individual end up in? Over 1,900 years ago, the apostle Peter penned these reassuring words: “There are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to [God’s] promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell.” (2 Peter 3:13)

I think you did pretty well yourself.

I would start with John 20:17, since that gives a starting point the morning after his resurrection, then link to the series of visits he made up to the 40th day, when his ascent was also marked by the angels' comment.

Then go back to the promise, to the evildoer is not in Paradise now, so that is a future reference to a coming Paradise.

Jesus was said to go to hell for parts of three days...if he immediately went to heaven what was all that talk about the tomb he was in.....why would he walk the earth for 40 days after he had the reward of heaven?

Because he had to wait for his sacrifice of his perfect life to be accepted by Jehovah...Red Tape even in Heaven...LOL

When a father comes home from work a child begs his father to take him to Disney World..the father says I promise you today, you and I will go to Disney World.

The father was not telling a lie. He was promising the child he would go but not right then.

Right then he wasn't ready but the child kept hanging on to him. He told the child to let him go he had to wait for his vacation time in a month. So Jesus was telling Mary Magdeline that he had other things to do first and she should go and wait.

That's one way to explain it.

I don't think any religion believes that Jesus was in Paradise on that day. He was in hell that day, and the next two days.

He didn't ascend to Heaven until 40 days after his ressurection.

So obviously the evildoer wasn't literally in Paradise "that day", "with" Jesus.

    Right?

PS I'm not a JW. I'm an independent codicologist and translator.

Many Jehovah's Witnesses gave you stable element , oh nicely , i'm overdue. actual one hundred forty four,000 will visit heaven and something human beings would be in the international continuously ; even nevertheless , unhappy information that a number of them won't have the means to stand up while that's time , that's called Gehenna.

The scriptures you gave definitely indicate his delay in going to heaven.

When you examine the accounts of talking to his disciples after his death and resurrection, it is obvious they needed a period of time to be fortified by Christ himself, by his not only materializing, but his teaching and touching concern for them since they all fled during the time leading up to his death.

He wanted to help them to be ready for the outpouring of the holy spirit and they needed to have instructions as to when this would occur and where. Jesus told them to stay in Jerusalem so they would be ready.

In John chapter 21 he lovingly reminded them what their obligation was going to be toward their fellow man inside and outside the congregation.

In Luke 21 he explained prophecies that they would need in their preaching work to convince others he was truly the Messiah.

All this took time. He was patient with them and wanted to lay the best foundation for them and with them for the Christian congregation.

Therefore no instantaneous resurrection to heaven. And for good reason.

I have no idea were that believe comes from, as it is so clear in the Bible that he did not ascend to heaven straight away.

There is also another believe, which I do not understand were it came from, that is the believe that Jesus went to Hell and spoke to the demons or spirits....Where does that one come from?

Jesus did not go directly to heaven. It was three days after he was crucified. And when he said to the man "...you will be with me in paradise" he bespoke of a grand ressurection that we believe is to be held in the future.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses i can assure you we do believe he was dead for three days, as was said. also look at the words of Luke. It does not say “Truly I tell you, today You will be with me in Paradise.” it says “Truly I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.”
