A prescription for contraceptives?
Hi there, my fiance (very soon to be wife) needs to get a prescription for contraceptives aka the pill. She is embarrassed about seeing a gynecologist thinking that she must get naked to be examined. Is this really necessary (to be examined) or is a mere consultation enough to get a prescription?
Thanks in advance

They'll usually give a 3-6 months worth when you start, but then if you want more you have to get back and get naked. Its not completely naked though, just a little bit. Its really not that bad, I'm very self conscious and i was dreading it. But then you just think about how many other people the doctor has seen naked, and they think nothing of it. I managed to go about a year without having to get an exam by going to different doctors and lying about having a recent exam.. But eventually it stopped working and I had to go through with it. Luckily they will give her a 12 or 15 month prescription though and she won't have to go back until she's near to running out.
Sometimes you can get them through a health department or woman's clinic, but even they will make her get the exam after awhile.
So its not initially getting the prescription that is the problem, its refilling it.

No, if you're considering Plan B, it's not a contraceptive. It does no longer keep an eye on a interval, it does no longer hinder ovulation or fertilizaton. What it does is creates a 'mini' interval in which IF it really works factors an implanted fertilized ovum to be expelled after implantation. It is handiest eighty five% robust while taken as directed and will handiest be won over-the-counter through the ones over the age of 18, you want parental consent and a prescription if you're below 18

From what I experienced, yes. But for me I ask when I'm there for my annual appointment. I'd rather get naked for a doctor for 5 minutes then have a suprise baby. You can also get them online, but they are expensive without a prescription.
