This is easy to rank:
8. Bench(best catcher probably ever- I Rod is close)
7. Pete Rose(Charlie Hustle says it all!)
6. Stan the Man Musial(best hitter behind Williams in his generation)
5. Ken Griffey Jr(could have been one of the best ever but injuries have taken a huge toll on his career)
4. Barry Bonds(even without steroids, he was the best player in the NL for years)
3. Alex Rodriguez(will end up breaking Bonds career HR record and put up unbelievable career numbers across the board before he retires)
2. Hank Aaron(Hammering Hank was Mr Consistent and an Allstar literally his whole career)
1. Willie Mays(most experts agree that Mays was the best player in the modern era including Mantle and Ted Williams. When you look up 5 tool player in the dictionary..there should be a picture of Willie Mays).

1. Hank Aaron vs. Barry Bonds. winner Aaron: Did it all without the aid of performance enhancers!
2. Willie Mays vs. Johnny Bench. winner Mays: Better pure all around talent.
3. Alex Rodriguez vs. Pete Rose. winner Rose: Baseballs all time hits leader, and a gritty player. Do this in 10 more years, and A-Rod may win this match up!
4. Stan Musial vs. Ken Griffey Jr. winner. Musial: The most intriguing of all the brackets, but the edge has to go to the guy with one of the sweetest swings in baseball, plus he won 3 World Series rings!

Two are easy, too are tough.
1. Hank Aaron over 8. Barry Bonds
(only 'cause he did it legally)
2. Willie Mays over 7 Johnny Bench
(Bench was good but we're talking about Willie Mays here)
3. Alex Rodriguez over 6. Pete Rose
(no contest)
4. Stan Musial over 5. Ken Griffey Jr
(Griffey's peak was better but overall body of work goes to Stan the Man)
edit: You would think somebody named "thedoc" would know that Babe Ruth and Ted Williams aren't alive.
