I agree with the first statement because all societies demonstrate corruption since, as a psychologist whose name I can't remember (I think his surname was Scott) said, humans on a social level are less than the sums of their parts.
I think the question about the role of religion in modern societies is a difficult question, since there is a difference between organised religion which acts as a politically-motivated machine and subject to the same corruption as all political institutes and religion based on level-headed faith (faith not being believing what isn't true but believing based on non-scientific experiences). I also believe that logical positivism and atheistic secularism, which combined is the predominant philosophy of the Western world is as equally vulnerable to political machinations as religion, if not more so since it:
a) is a philosophy which represents a spectrum of views from the extreme ('religion should be exterminated'; as demonstrated in the majority, if not all of the officially atheist states which have existed) to the benign, as does religion;
b) comprises of a group of people which can easily become morally bankrupt, and;
c) unlike most religions does not base itself on an objective moral framework.

ALL of society has been corrupt ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed God and took hold of and ate the forbidden fruit. Since this time mankind has had sin dominating his lifestyle. The biggest single issue is greed, which is at the heart of almost every transaction involving money. When did you last see a service being provided for its own sake, rather than a "how much money will this make us" attitude.
Yes I agree with your statement, assuming that East and West make up the whole globe.

Society has ALWAYS been corrupt...from the beginning of time until now. I do not think religion is worth much,
because religion is made by man, with man's rules and
is very imperfect.
On the other hand Christianity (or the practice of
following Jesus Christ) is a great deliverance from
earthly religion.

i agree with u modern society is every where now see it for u self the media even in the third world and in the east look at tge islamic countries they are becoming modern and in the west it is worse
now people are trying to follow religion and want to keep up with the society so the easiest way they think is to modernise the religion

1) All societies, at all times, in every place, have been corrupt. This is because society is made up of selfish, sinful humans, most of whom are chained to Mammon's altar.
2) Christians are to be salt and light in society. Pseudo-Christians are part of the corruption, and the most reprehensible part, but Christians act to preserve the good and resist the evil. They reflect the light of Christ who is the light of the world. There is great darkness coming over the horizon of our land right now but that will only serve to show more clearly the distinction between those who are free in Christ and those who are not.

Depends on what you mean by "corrupt". Morality is too subjective a matter to be able to use that widely.
What one man considers corrupt might be another man's idea of piety.
Religon can act as a personal guide for most people. It simply becomes a problem when they try to use that "personal guide" to dictate what other people should do

agree people have no regard for other people or their property
Religion has decreased that has contributed to the rise in corruption.
People make up their own standards of what is right and wrong for them.
