Another question about Disney?
I changed my dates to get away from the Super Bowl. Now I am looking at January 3, 4 and 5. Anything special going on that week? Not many schools on vacation, I hope?
I got such great answers yesterday from mrguitarman2, drip, Kristina L, davidhobart47, itchianna and others. I've decided we'll stay on premises to avoid extra parking fees, because I was planning to bring him in and out for meals and at other times. I also knew about not having to wait in line, and also the quiet rooms we can sneak into if things get over-stimulating. We plan on using a wheelchair because it cuts down on the sensory input. We already use a wheelchair in high-crowd situations like big malls and amusements parks.
He just hates our Maine winters and he's always wanted to see Disney. He works so hard, I just feel he deserves a winter break. He's part of a sheltered workshop of 7 men with autism who build birdhouses for a living.

So sorry, the weeks after Christmas are some of the busiest. You may want to check this site: http://www.plan-a-magical-vacation.com/disney-crow...
It will help you pick a time to go.

You will still have large crowds those dates. Southern schools will not be back in session yet. There are regional differences in school holidays. The North tends to go back earlier and the South a bit later. That said, we live in Georgia and have gone during those dates. We used Custom Mouse Plans to create our trip itinerary and touring plans and they were amazing! We didn't wait more than 15 minutes for any ride and everything was customized for our group. I think that given your special considerations, they may work great for you. They customize the plans for each family, so they can create plans thay take his needs into account.

well actually jan 3 and 4 kids are still not back to school and there will be tons of people still there. monday jan 5th just about every kid in k-12 goes back to school all over the country.
and i'd stay away from weekends all together cuz many people take the kids for a couple days like on the weekends.
also i wouldn't advise going to magic kingdom on a monday cuz many families leave for disney on the weekends and get there in time to go to a park on a monday and the first park many people want to go to is magic kingdom since it is the main disney world park.
if you are dead set on going in the begining of jan. i'd go jan 6,7, and 8.
that would be tues, weds, thurs,
personally i would stick with going in feb. that is a super slow time. the crowds are very light.
and really what does the super bowl have to do with it?
do you want to watch the super bowl?
cuz i can tell you that that is one of the greatest times to go cuz everyone will be watching it and the crowds will be very light.
i suggest that you go in feb.

That's a great week for peace and quiet. It's so close to the holidays that almost everyone--having already done Thanksgiving and Xmas and New Years--stays home. The weather is still too unreliable to be dragging down northerners for the sun. As a result the parks are near as empty as they get.
I usually tell people to avoid Jan and Feb because those are the most common times for rides to be closed for maintenance and repair (because it is the longest stretch of uncrowded time outside of the hurricane season). In your special case, though, I think you made a great call.
PS for "facts!!" see this page on forecasting future Walt Disney World crowds: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-fami...
Best of luck and give him a smile from me! and one to yourself!
