obscure movie set in Ireland with beautiful music - but whats it called???
I can only remember sketchy little snatches of the movie...Please help!
There's a woman who leaves Ireland (for New York...?) pre-movie, she has a very gruff adult brother, and possibly a suitor who follows her back to ireland. There is an oddly placed african american kid, perhaps the main woman's son - maybe she dies? I don't know.
The kid is set to work on the gruff uncle's farm, he has a thing for a young girl but the uncle wants them kept apart...there's bad blood between the uncle and someone who used to chase the main woman, can't remember why....
AAARRGHH this is really tormenting me! All I honestly want is the soundtrack: what's the movie called??
the kid arrives on a ferry...if that is a whit of help to anyone!!
and the kid has dreadlocks, just above shoulder length, and he is an artist/carried around artwork his mum had done...? Uncle finds it at some point and is royally p!ssed. Maybe there is a picture of the irish girl he likes, in it?
And the music I like so much - it was in the credits, and partly in the film - I believe its called celtic mouth music, or was very similar to that...very pretty, haunting.

This killed me to read. I knew the movie, but I was one up on you, I remembered that Pierce Brosnan was in it.

The Union Forever(White Stripes) & Citizen Kane Well there's always the Misty Mountain Hop & LOTR. Another favorite is "Soma" by the Strokes, inspired by Brave New World. I guess Im kinda cheating with the last 2 because they were inspired by the novel & not the movie. Find it on IMDB.com. Then go to the miscellaneous links and you'll find a couple places with info on the music. Based on the imdb.com posts about this movie, there is no soundtrack; someone suggested pausing the credits on the dvd to build your own list and make your own CD. I did get to listen to one song through the links I mentioned. I can see why your are looking for it.
