Is it possible Paul was inspired by this OT passage in regard to the Armor of God?
Consider this Old Testament passage:
16 But the just shall live for evermore: and their reward is with the Lord, and the care of them with the most High. 17 Therefore shall they receive a kingdom of glory, and a crown of beauty at the hand of the Lord: for with his right hand he will cover them, and with his holy arm he will defend them. 18 And his zeal will take armor, and he will arm the creature for the revenge of his enemies. 19 He will put on justice as a breastplate, and will take true judgment instead of a helmet. 20 He will take equity for an invincible shield: 21 And he will sharpen his severe wrath for a spear, and the whole world shall fight with him against the unwise.
And now Paul's version in Ephesians:
13 Therefore take unto you the armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and to stand in all things perfect. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of justice, 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: 16 In all things taking the shield of faith, wherewith you may be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the most wicked one. 17 And take unto you the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God).
Is it possible or reasonable to assume he was inspired to described the armor of God based on this Old Testament passage?

definite, Saul (Paul) replaced into knowledgeable as a Pharisee in domicile of Hillel Halakha decrease than Gamaliel, Epiphanius cites an Ebionite custom that so as to marry the severe Priest's daughter, Paul switched over to the Sadduccee faction which controlled the Sanhedrin on the time. He first looks interior the pages of the recent testomony as a witness to the martyrdom of Stephen (Acts 7:fifty seven-8:3). He replaced into, as he defined himself, a continual persecutor of the Church (a million Corinthians 15:9, Galatians a million:13) (distinctly much all of whose individuals have been Jewish or Jewish proselytes), till his journey on the line to Damascus which led to his conversion. In those days- jews memorized the entire old testomony at early a while. They actually wore scripture in a Tefillin (a small black field) strapped around their head. So, i would not be taken aback in any respect if he referenced the old testomony.

I don't know where that passage is but I think that this passage is more likely.
Isaiah 59:17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, And was clad with zeal as a cloak.

Absolutely.
I suspect he heard this passage read a few times in the synagogue and he saw the relevance of it concerning the new gospel of Jesus. For in his passage we see the additional words, "faith" and "salvation".

Paul was the de facto leader of the Pharisees before he converted on the road to Damascus. To think he would desert God is sort of silly.
Paul used his new understanding of Christ to flesh out what the OT teaches.

Paul was a very knowledgeable OT scholar, as all scripture in 50 AD was OT. Yes, he probably was.
