Why is everyone being so selfish with the "star" button?
We are not looking for a status quota. Giving someone a star helps get the message out so that more people can veiw it. Christians should especially be intrested in this because it helps get the Word of God out by giving it more attention. If you you choose to do so you can take the star back after the question has closed.
keyjona; thank you!
Mim; i agree with you. If its not a good question don't star it, or answer it.
Thank you ({([Bobby])})
batgirl2good; it would appear that your the only one being judgmental here.

Have a star for reminding us what stars are all about!
It's a great way to flag up an interesting question to your contacts and get others involved in answering questions if they star it.
I depend upon my contacts giving out a star so I can home in on meaningful questions.
At the risk of sounding like a boring old person, the point of Christians answering questions is not to score points (or stars), but to point people to Christ. One great comfort to me is that having clung to the star of Christ I know he will never give me a thumbs' down (lol!), spiritually speaking.

I like to star questions, but I usually answer in other categories. I don't think people are selfish. Maybe they are interested in some other subjects. I didn't know until now that if you give a star that message can be viewed by more people. Maybe, they don't know that. Do you want a star for this question? I mean, I can't learn much from the answers; just see some opinions. OK. I'll star it. Nothing to loose.

Maybe I shouldn't answer because I'm guilty of flooding the Y!A system with stars. They are so wonderful because I can give them and take them away. I use them to notify contacts of questions that are interesting or that are in voting. Before stars came along it was a real pain to copy the link and then go to each contacts profile to call attention to the question.

The reason I star is also to get the Word out. Also, I know that there are some contacts that can get into more detail than me. That don't mean though, that I star EVERY question, only the ones I'm felt led to do...
The atheists star because they want their "click" to come in ...

A star is to attract attention, so, it depends on the caliber of question and the interests of my network, who gets a star from me. I am interested in many facets of life and beliefs therefore I may find a question interesting but know the rest of my contacts would not. Therefore I star very few.
This question I will star for I think many will find this of interest.

Personally,I star every question that I answer...My reasons are twofold...To announce my interest and response to a question,as well as providing my contacts an opportunity to answer,if they wish...Also,If I consider a question to be worthy enough to engage(Serious or Silly),then I also believe the questioner deserves the respect of a stared response.

I star questions that I think are very interesting or worth passing on. I star the same way I pass on "forwards" in emails: sparingly.

I've given you a star because I was given some stars in my questions earlier.
You can star mine now if you like in return.

You are right that is why we aren't getting the volume of answers we used to and it really is getting boring and who wants to loose 2 points everytime we ask a question.I try to remember that if I decided to answer it then it was interesting enough to get a star.good question and I am staring it.Thanks

Sorry Don, I am guilty. Sometimes I just forget about the star button. Thanks for the reminder. I should not be so star stingy.
God bless you and here is a star.
