    The Cross is the most important event in human history. However, without Mary there would have been no Cross, no Savior, no Salvation.

    Actually Jesus carried the cross.

    Mary did nothing to be considered great. She was just a vessel through which God allowed his son to be born, she didn't have anything to do with it. Sure she was a good woman because otherwise she would never have been chosen, but she isn't worthy of any praise or reverence.

    The cross isn't holy either. It's symbolic of a holy act of Jesus giving up his life, but it alone means nothing.

    So really neither is better. Jesus trumps both.

    (Get ready to see all the thumbs down from the Catholics. I don't care, the Bible agrees with me and that's what matters. I need no one to intercede bu Jesus, that's biblical so this "saints" and Mary bull is pointless idolatry. The Bible says we are all saints, so naming certain people above others is wrong too.)

    There is No Holy Cross- thats a Myth.

    Mary Carried Jesus to Term other than that Sane People do not worship other People.

    So the Question remains- what do you mean by " Better?"

    You're comparing apples to oranges...

    All grace is extended as a result of Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Without that, there would be no resurrection, and no way for us to enter into heaven;

    ''May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.'' --- Gal. 6:14

    ''and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.'' --- Col. 1:20

    However, as another answerer responded, *that* sacrifice may not have happened without *Mary's* sacrifice, without her cooperation with God. Mary is the daughter of the Father, the mother of the Son (incarnate), and the spouse of the Holy Spirit. In the sense that her faith and love for God is to be imitated, she is also the New Eve (Mary obeyed where Eve disobeyed) and the mother of all Christians;

    "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed." --- Gen. 3:15

    "Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother ... When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, He saith unto His mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith He to the disciple, Behold thy mother." --- John 19:25-27

    "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." --- Rev. 12:17

    Source(s): I am a very traditional, very conservative, very confessional Lutheran (LCMS), and uncomfortable with asking Mary to pray for me, but I do recognize that I pray *with* her, as well as ''with angels and archangels and all the company of heaven,'' and believe that a certain degree of Mariology is necessary if we are to understand the Christian religion in its fullness. As a Lutheran, I also believe that the saints should be remembered (we have the same feast days and festivals as the Roman Catholic Church), that we may follow their example of Christian living and imitate their faith in God.

    Mary was a person. The cross was wood. I would say Mary.

    *His death on the Cross is a different subject.

    Hail Mary,

    Full of Grace,

    The Lord is with thee.

    Blessed art thou among women,

    and blessed is the fruit

    of thy womb, Jesus.

    Holy Mary,

    Mother of God,

    pray for us sinners now,

    and at the hour of death.

    Amen.

    Christ needed both to do what had to be done. Neither is dispensible.
