Why do Christians follow a convicted criminal?
Wasnt Jesus a convicted criminal?
Do you get now why mormons roll their eyes at people that ask that stupid question about Joseph Smith over and over and over again?
LOL
do some of you get mormons can claim the same bias against mormons and Joseph Smith for just "speaking the truth" too?
Did I say Joseph Smith was Jesus???? Talk about reading too into the question
LOL
oh my goodness people
I know the Bible. I know the story. Bottom line was that he was still convicted.
You believe in Christ so you defend him against these charges and the conviction.
Now try to stretch your minds and apply this to why Mormons would do the same when it comes to Joseph Smith next time someone asks why Mormons follow a convicted criminal.

people, people- put away the boxing gloves. we read the bible- we know the story. i am in no way comparing Christ to smith- and i don't think cadisney is either- but rather that people are so quick to judge, when in a way it's hypocritical. yes- Christ dying on the cross was part of God's plan. the point was that even a sinless, perfect man of God- the Son of God- was convicted by the people and hated so much that willfully they crucified him and traded him for a known thief. when Christ really couldn't be found guilty of anything. the comparison and point is that smith- while certainly not the Son of God or even on the same level as Christ, was (as we believe) a prophet of God. he was not even sinless, or perfect- no one but Christ falls under that category- and was jailed- not convicted but jailed and martyred. he- like Jesus was found not guilty numerous times- he was jailed three times and let go because it was found that he commited no crime. the third time, he wasn't even able to be found of a crime because he was killed before it was even ruled on.
the comparison is that if the Son of God could be hated so much that the people would decide to put Him to death and wrongfully convict Him of a crime - is it so far a stretch that a prophet of God could be hated by others so much that they would unlawfully imprison him numerous times and then murder him? does the hatred of the jews who voted to kill Jesus make Him less of our Savior, or less of the Son of God? no. so how is that the hatred of certain people in illinois at the time for smith make him less of a prophet? i believe that is what you were getting at cadisney, is it not?

Jesus was convicted wrongly, in spite of the things he taught. Jesus was innocent and He encouraged people to search the scriptures and compare the things he said and did to that standard.
Search the scriptures... they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)
Joseph Smith has been accused of things because of what he said and did. When people try to compare the things Joseph Smith taught to the scriptures (the Bible), Mormons complain of persecution, and say they are being attacked. It is only an attack if the scriptures do not support his doctrine.
All churches should encourage people to compare their doctrine to the scriptures! (See Acts 17:11) If that doctrine is true, the scriptures should support it!
If, however, a church is guilty of false doctrine, the scriptures will show that also.
Jesus was innocent! Was Joseph Smith innocent?
If people ask the same questions over and over, then maybe it is because those questions have not yet been answered!

Especially since Mormons believe that Jesus and ol' Joe Smith are now both gods, too.

Some Christians, and some other atheists believe that Jesus had a way about him at times. He communicated more than the average bear and did some healings. Some wonder how he did it. I think it was a methodology of Forgive Affirmed Spirit, that very few people are familiar with.
Life does not always seem FAIR!
Hi! I am a Forgive Affirmed Spirit and this is what I profess and try to act like.
Forgive Affirmed Spirit is the belief in a way of life that is a method of grief resolution and functional communication processing involving active listenning, sympathy, empathy and affirmation of shock, denial, anger, guilt, depression, loneliness and hope...a kind of ego-equilibrium seeking methodology.
A Greater Works of communication and action, a way to learn to love your enemies "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you AS IF YOU WERE THEM!"
And nobody is perfect! NOBODY! We are all judgeable, hopefully in a graceful discerning way! We are all doing our best every moment!
Humans judge everything as we are a part of it. Without difference, we have nothing to live for, nothing to witness. Sin is difference, the relative seriousness with regards to law and survival of other beings, is punishable by the courts. The best way to judge is with as much graceful discernment as one can muster in a given moment!
Life is the question(uncertainty) asked by the exhaling infinitely compacted imagination invention, or no thing, which is completely certain of everything, completely omniscient or all knowing.
When I die, I believe I will be in a new state, aware of all that is and yet divided into the nature of dust that I am in, whereupon my dust shall fall. My being will remain an infinite part of an infinite being and infinite knowledge without my material human being status of now. So there will be a change.
But my soul, my passions and discompassions, will move on to infinite places of comfort and challenge. Able to return to this state of uncertainty and free choice illusion for another ride when it is called effectively to do so.
So that the children of God, the creations of God, .. are actually part in parcel of that God or Creation Energy!
This life is a roller coaster ride. Enjoy your passion within it and whatever gathering of two or more in Forgive Affirmed Spirit to make it better can garner.
Healing be unto you and yours and me and mine in
Forgive Affirmed Spirit

Have you ever read the bible hon? If you haven't it's a wonderful inspiration. Actually the passage below are only some of a few that will show that Jesus wasn't actually a criminal. What he was and still is to this day is a threat to those who don't believe in him. They couldn't stop his message from reaching people, so they did what they thought would keep him from converting others, murdered him. Please take the time to know the truth. (verse 23 tells that he was innocent)
19While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."
20But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
21"Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor.
"Barabbas," they answered.
22"What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked.
They all answered, "Crucify him!"
23"Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

Some want to trap LDS and others. They do not think that the same question may apply to them. Would be interesting to see the shoe on the other foot.

On falsified charges, as the criminal on the one side said, we are punished for what we did but this man, speaking of Jesus, is being punished for doing nothing wrong. You can try and defend Mormonism all you want, but, it's still a false religion.

Even Herod knew Jesus wasn't guilty...He "found no fault" with Him, but the people wanted Barabbas to be released instead. It's in the Bible.
