when you are NOT in the mood to pray that IS the time to drop down to your knees and pray vigorously. it's when we don't want to do something so important is when we should do it :-)

Yes. Daily conversation with God Almighty is essential. You wouldn't go a day without speaking to someone in your family or someone who is near and dear to you. You can also think of it as housekeeping, we might not be in the mood to keep the house tidy, but if we make ourselves do it anyway - then when unexpected guests show up, we are always glad that we did. Same is true with prayer, pray anyway - as you get more into your prayer time and the spirit starts moving, you will probably find that you don't want to quit. This has been my experience on many occasion. (remember the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak).

That is when we should be praying MOST! And as Tiffany said YES pray for a DESIRE to pray! That we would come to God always, each day in every circumstance....if we choose not to pray, we will eventually separate ourselves from the Lord and how tragic that would be....

    He is our ROCK!

Yes, our emotions and thoughts can and do lead us into many difficulties. We are to pray without ceasing. So there is never a time that we should listen to our mood telling us not to pray. What do you do? Begin by praising Him. He will do the rest.

He is found in the praises of His saints. How can I not pray to one who calls me a saint? He loves me so much that He gave His life for me. Yet, I find that there are times that this world gets in the way, I have lost my focus. I must refocus on Christ and, as I draw near to Him, He draws me even closer.

Sometimes the easiest things are the ones we find hardest to do. It takes only 5- 6 minutes out of your entire day to take the time to thank God for all our blessings. Being in or out of "mood" should never play a part in taking the time to be thankful.

People often misunderstand "praying". It's a matter of being in touch everyday with "god", the universe, whatever you perceive it to be. Especially when things are hard and you're mad or hurt. It's taking a moment to see what "really" is important and what you can learn and what negativity you have in your life that needs to be removed. You can say 1000 hail marys, you can talk till you're blue in the face, that's not really "praying".

Everyone has those moods where we just don't feel like it or don't want to pray. It's best not to yield to them, or your prayer life starts to take a downward turn.

Something that I do is pray for the desire to pray. Then I start to question why I don't have the desire, and honestly explain to God what my deal is. Before I know it, I'm praying.

Here's a structure I use when praying- it kinda keeps me alert and paying attention to Him.

P- praise God for what he's done

    R- repent from your sins

A- ask for what you and others need or desire

Y- yield your life to him and acknowledge his will for you

Yes, I have always been taught to do that.

"Prayer changes things" read a little sign sitting in the bookcase of my childhood home. I learned there that prayer is our pathway to mighty changes. When you don't feel like praying, read the words of the Lord. Read Jesus' tender invitation, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28). Come, he says over and over. Through Alma he implores us, "Come and fear not, and lay aside every sin, which easily doth beset you, . . . and show unto your God that ye are willing to repent of your sins and enter into a covenant with him" (Alma 7:15). The desire to pray will grow in you as you read the scriptures, and you will be able to close the book with renewed desire to speak with the author.

We should pray even when we don't want to! Even though we sin, God doesn't take away our breath for one minute of our day, does he? No. WE are to praise God in everything we do. "You Shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself."

This kind of prayer can be seen as most fruitful--it can change your attitude in a millisecond. God wants to penetrate every minute of our days. If we let him, He will enter into our lives--we only must open the door to our hearts.

    God Bless!

    It can be compared to:

When we're not hungry, should we eat anyway?

Eating 3 meals a day is most healthy, even when you don't feel like.

This doesn't mean you can't skip a meal if you want to.

However keeping your meals at a regular time interval is really most healthy.

And so with our prayer life.
