when does the doctor strip the membranes?
tomorrow, i will be 37 weeks and five days. i've heard that most doctors will strip the membranes at 38 weeks. since i am two days shy of 38 weeks, will my doctor hold off on stripping my membranes untill next week? and, if you have allready lost your mucus plug, do they still strip your membranes?

It depends on your Dr. Mine did it because I was a week and 1/2 OVER due! I don't think it helped though, they had to induce me 5 days later!

I've only had one hospital-based birth, but the practice that I used did NOT routinely strip membranes, much less before the due date. It's not something that should be done, and I'd just refuse. It increases the risk of infection and is a mild form of induction (if it works). It's best to just leave things be and let baby come in his/her own time, if there's no problem.
