They are trying to inject themselves whenever possible into the Press coverage of the event. Is this really surprising to you? Hannity, Limbaugh and who know who elese are also there. It is just politics as usual.
Below are links to a couple of stories about it.

Edit: "War Room" is a common term which is used often when offices are setup for any event.

The problem, of course, is that the Fed long ago established pre-emption on the matter. I knew when CA voted on this that it was not going to fly. No, you cannot just disband the DEA. There is a Constitution in place, and the laws must change in accordance. Until the S. Ct. rules that the Fed does not have preemption, or Congress passes a carve-out for medicinal marijuana, nothing else can be done. And I hate to poop on your party, but until there is a way to establish recency of use in driving cases, I am against legalization of mj.

Probably the same reason they call a candidate's campaign fund a "war chest" It's just a term.
And don't you think the Dems will also set up a "war room" during the Republican Convention? Of course they will.

Nice try, conspiracy junky.
That story was run within the first ten minutes of the nightly news last night (at least on NBC). Hardly "buried".
And if you think either party isn't going to set up a camp near the other party's convention, you're either ignorant or not paying attention.

If you believe this is one sided you are uniquely naive. Politics all in all is a game and it is played by both sides regardless of what everyone thinks. The people that run these campaigns know what they are doing because the majority of the US likes the fighting and the negativity, they cater to it. If you for one second believe that the democratic party is "cleaner" and doesn't play dirty, you really need to get a swift kick in your cerebrum.

Don't forget the funny Paris and tire guage campaign ads to get you riled up.
We're always looking to make fun of you. Just keep talking, and we never run out of material.

What amazes me is the blatant fact that Republicans never talk about the positive side of their campaign - I guess because they do not have a positive side . They focus entirely on negative attacks on Obama.
In real total contrast to Democrats who have a positive vision for a better future. And talk about a future with Hope .
Democrats are such a positive force and truly believe in and support the goodness in life.

We are watching them. Love that he called it the Ministry of Truth, sooo revealing of what the Republicans are up to.

it's not surprising, given that comedian rush limbaugh advocated his dittoheads going to the DNC and causing "1968 style chaos". Can you imagine what the right would say if keith olberman suggested doing this at the RNC? Man, the republikans would be in here calling for his head for treason!

Yeah, Republicans are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay into war. I bet they have little tanks to play with in there. LOL...
