Can you help me with my Vice President Speech for Student Council?
My name is ______ and I want to be your 2008-2009 student council vice president.
I believe that I am qualified to be your vice president because I am a “take charge” kind of person. I am organized, responsible, and try to accomplish projects properly and on time.
I’m not afraid to voice my opinions or stand up for what I believe in. I value creativity and am willing to brainstorm ideas and alternative ways to resolve problems.
As your vice president, I will be ready and willing to listen to the insight and ideas of others, in hopes making this school year the best. It’s really the ideas and hard work that can make it a better year for all of us.
I can’t promise Pepsi for lunch, but I can promise to be open to all ideas and to work my hardest. Your choice is very important to the election, and I would appreciate your vote. Thank you for listening, and remember… AD for VP!
I didnt win

It depends.. if you're the kind of person that can pull off something, funny, then do it. Like my friend ran for class president last year and he did his entire speech in an irish accent and talked about the randomest things. He won. Or someone else's whole speech, which I thought was really clever, was all high school musical songs (it went something like: Come on guys, its our last year of middle school, and we're all in this together, so lets break free and start something new. etc etc, lets go guys, get your head in the game and vote for me!) haha it was better than how i described it though. other people made up songs, etc. Even if you aren't the kind of person that can pull that off, don't do the typical "Hi I'm running for this here are three reasons why you should vote for me" thing. If you need to do a normal speech, make it a little interesting. I always tune out on those speeches, and I'm sure most people do too. When you decide on your slogan, say it at the end of your speech and have your friends in the audience jump up and shout it out with you. People will remember you more. Or start off with a story, instead of reading from a paper. Oh! I just got an idea. I know this is probably overused but maybe you could do.. "I had a dream. That one day...(etcetera, begin the MLK speech) ..I would be your vice president!" and elaborate. oh geez. i hope I could help:)

You have my vote. Could you give some examples of things you have done for the school that would make you a good choice.Prove you are responsible,a take charge type of person by relating what you have done. What clubs or teams are you on?Do you tutor or help other students in any way.Are there any ideas that you have for improving your school, that could really be carried out. No you cannot have 2 days of school and five days off, although that would make you very popular.Good Luck in the election,I hope you win.

so don't brag about yourself. it's actually quite simple, people who brag rarely win. speak about your qualifications in organization, honesty, trustworthiness, and ability to work with others. also, set realistic goals and visions. just for an example, don't promise free ice cream every Friday, but do say you will start a forum where students can express problems with teachers anomalously and maybe offer advice on how to deal with unreasonable teachers. find an issue at your school that you think the student counsel can take on and speak about that. I think you will find that one minute speeches are easy and you will want more time.

i think the idea is to not make it monotonous, but interesting. everyone will say, "i will do this, i can do that, ill try at that, so, yeah. that's it. vote for me." i find that it makes your speech much better if you say something very poetic and intelligent, like you spent hours trying to say something for a minute just to make a good impact. after the poem, say your name and your desire. the poem should be on what could be improved on the school. here's what i like (and im ok if you plagiarize it):
At the top of the hill,
As I looked on down,
I could see all below,
right down to the ground.
but I went down the hill,
and when I looked up, i saw
not a thing on the top;
not a thing at all.
when I went back up,
and looked on down,
very few who had dared
to look up the mound.
basically what this means is that if you are in charge and up top, you see everyone and everything. but when you are at the bottom, you can't see a thing, and therefore don't care what is on top. this refers to a time line. when you are at school, you don't know what you will go on to see, but if you climb the hill, if you try, you will find the top is that of knowledge and accessibility. when you se the others who don't look up, you can tell they don't intend to do the climb to success. those others are your competition. try summarizing this paragraph, state your name, and you will succeed.

This sounds really good actually. You have one grammatical error: should be: "in hopes "of" making this school year the best (maybe add "ever"). Also, the sentence, "It's really the ideas...... needs a little help. Consider changing to: "It is really with new ideas and hard work, that we can make it a better year for all of us."

Sounds pretty good to me. Add a few funny remarks in it to get the crowd laughing a bit. What someone did when I was in school, was pass out little packs of candy Nerds and had a slogan "Don't be a nerd, vote for _______"
