Is religion based on truthiness?
Merriam-Webster defines truthiness as "the quality by which you know something purely by feeling, without regard to logic, evidence, or intellectual examination."
I know there are a few exceptions, I know people who do evolve their thoughts even through their religion. But aren't most, if not all religions, based on truthiness?
Fireball- If Christianity is in someone's heart as a feeling, doesn't that make it based on truthiness?
I wish people would think a little bit more before posting an answer...
Dynamic Devil- This word was added in 2006 i think, it was Merriam-Webster's word of the year.
imaCatholic3- truthiness is a real word, in America atleast. You can search it at Merriam-Webster's website and find out for yourself.

Hebrews 11
1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2This is what the ancients were commended for.
3By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

I think that's a pretty accurate description...I mean if you're faced with contradictory evidence in your scripture, some sort of cognitive balance has to be reached...either that or you reject the faith whole cloth, and my personal religious beliefs are so much more than the texts constructed 2000 years (or more) ago...I would never leave the Catholic Church...so I find a truth that isn't "mathematically" derived but I feel gives me a sense of peace and direction about Life...

maximum religions are in accordance with truthiness. additionally, maximum religions have some degree of actuality in them. those i'd disqualify as having no degree of actuality in them are the incredibly wierd ones like Satanism, or Atheism. the only that has 360 ranges of actuality is my very own, and in case you could no longer say that approximately your guy or woman faith, you have no longer been finding demanding adequate!

That depends on you view of truth. Truth is based on the perception of reality, but reality is not always the same as perception.
Lets look at an example from Genesis: Chapter 3
And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'" 4 But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.
So here we see that God lied about the nature of the tree for fear of the knowledge and powers it imparted. (What God Lied !!! That could mean Christianity could be a lie. )
Furthermore we know this because of his reaction:
Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever" -- therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden.
So in reality God lied about the nature of the tree and to prevent man from becoming godlike cast him out of the garden.
So tell me does this sound like a religion who's basis is "truthiness"?

nope not unless one thinks they are superior which is naive.

Doesn't truthfulness come truth? "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6
