HELP!!! Philosophy is making me go crazy!?
I guess this all started when I was trying to understand things more, and I was thinking about the mental processes that go on in my brain when I read, but then feeling guilty that I'm not really aware of the process while I'm reading, and thinking it's so important I have to be aware of it while I read, and I gradually questioned more and more things until I was questioning reality, what I accept as real (common sense), science (it seems we can never really be sure if what we perceive is real or science and common sense are right), things I have learned to do (like reading or playing the piano), things I have learned (like math - all of the things I have learned in it; what it means to understand), and questioning and trying to find a reason/explanation for everything I do. Often I can't find the answers, but I feel like they are so important/baffling for me that I have to think about them, but I realize it's bad because always worrying and thinking about it makes it difficult to do things like schoolwork or normal activities. I've been worrying all of the time about philosophical problems and why I shouldn't worry about them, and this has made it difficult to concentrate on other things. (clearly I've become obsessed with these things that most people probably just shrug off - they worry me almost all the time, except for when I'm really into something and forget about them) I'm trying to find a reason/justification to accept reality and science and common sense and what I've learned and stuff and not think about how I read and all those things.. Does anyone have advice, or a reason/justification to accept and not think about and question those things in the last sentence?

"When there's no wood to burn, we end up burning ourselves."
"The greater the knowledge, the greater the depth of pain, the greater the sorrow." (Assassins Creed)
In other words, your newfound intensity made you more open possibilities, but it conflicts with your ego, which tries to protect and regulate your reality and the way you adapt to it by creating the "ego reality" which makes you feel this pain.
No, don't stop questioning the world around you. The trick is not to let the fire go out, but to provide stronger and more wood to burn. Find people who also question the way you do but try to some diversity in their thought processes. Find activities that demand the abstract reasoning you are exercising like taking a philosophy course or lessons on logic and books that emphasize them. Go out there and find the wood you need to burn.
Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I’m picking me apart again
You all assume
I’m safe here in my room
(unless I try to start again)
I don’t want to be the one
The battles always choose
‘Cause inside I realize
That I’m the one confused
I don’t know what’s worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don’t know why I instigate
And say what I don’t mean
I don’t know how I got this way
I know it’s not alright
So I’m
Breaking the habit
Tonight
Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I had no options left again
I’ll paint it on the walls
‘Cause I’m the one at fault
I’ll never fight again
And this is how it ends
I don’t know what’s worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
But now I have some clarity
To show you what I mean
I don’t know how I got this
I’ll never be alright
So I’m
Breaking the habit
Breaking the habit
Tonight

As you can see, I am in the same boat as you are. I have decided to live in the conflict and am in the process of finding more things that will satisfy my appetite. "Who understands the resolution? Life is all about the conflict and people will do everything they can to live, breathe, and become it."
Remember, everything you see, you do, interact with is a reflection of who you are, or at least who you think you are. I say remember because I believe there are memories in ourselves we have not yet unlocked (this sentence was inspired by Assassins Creed).
Let us indulge in some philosophical rambling:
Why does Morpheus' ears have smoke coming out of them? And why is one side dark and other light?
Well, I would say the smoke the confusion, the mystery that surrounds us and reason the smoke is coming out of his ears is because the mystery lies from within us, the mystery of trying to discover who we really are. The smoking ears are also meant to show that are hearing, as our eyes and the rest of our senses and clouded and some transcending is required to see past our finite, physical selves. And the light and dark are contrasts I guess. "Your dark defines your light" (Chronic Future) I suppose through seeing what we're not, shows who we are. Through examining evil, we can see the good, its contrast. This is just my interpretation.
Why does the author say 42 is the answer to the mystery of the universe and the meaning of life?
I would say that this answer supports the theory of solopsism, which is that reality is just a construct of our own minds. Its all in our minds. So for whatever subjective reason for why the author sees 42 as the answer whether he believes there are 42 dimensions, whether the age 42 is the enlightening age, or that maybe 42 in general is what "wakes" us up, he simply believes that 42 is the answer and so, at least in his mind, this is the meaning of life. After all, what everyone says and does is true, at least under the circumstances attached to them. Again, this is just my opinion.
Why do I call myself Agent Smith? What do you think?
SOooooo, I don't see any problem of questioning reality. You just need to find the adequate nutrition, the right firewood to support your newly modified philosophical self. Otherwise you'll end up burning yourself like you are now.

Lol i actually had the same phenomena, and still do (especially in math, like why does this work, etc) and questioning reality and whether this is all a figment of my imagination, but ive come to a few conclusions. Some things just are. No matter how much time you devote to thinking bout them, they will still be the same whether you thought bout them or not. Also, reality is an imagination, because we cant literally say that this is the present NOW! because we thought about the now way before it even came out. BUT people are real because they change you all the time. After reading this you will be altered, your brain rewired ever so slightly and if i didn't exist, i would have never made this impression on you and you would always be the same. Nothing would ever change about your personality/way of thinking because everything would BE your imagination. If everything IS, then there cant be a MAYBE. We know there is a MAYBE so we know that not everything IS.
Hope this helped

This is really a severe problem, even I faced it.
What I feel is, when you experience everything, you will understand philosophy more clearly. I am sure, those philosophical truths must had written by some experienced person. For example, when you experience the cooking for the first time, then next time, you will be able to know it in better way. rite? In the same way, experience everything, when you experience it, you will come to know what is good and what is not.
"Experience is the best teacher and philosopher in our lives."
Follow the common sense for now. Have a forward looking mind. Be practical.
This will be helpful to you, I suppose.
Have a nice day Fred.

I think you should read books that no likes to talk about and google things that regular people dont no, i feel the only way to grow is through your own perceptions, the only thing i think i can do is give references ............the 11:11 effect, the urantia book, the ica stones, certain passages in the bible including ezekiel 1 <--the whole thing, genesis the whole book and revelation the whole book, things in the bible too look for genesis 6 "giant nephilites" some where in genesis it talks about anakim, annunaki, the hexagonal clouds on neptune and jupiter, the z-machine, dark matter, dark energy, multi-verse theory, big bounce theory, sacred geometry, ancient secrets, and the sumerian creation story
google all those things read up in your spare time
oo and by the way the bible is bases in the middle east obviously but what i dont get is why people discount the connection between sumeria and izrael anyways youll see what im talking about take care science and common sence are based on previous knowledge that has been altered and twisted over time the and the very forefront of science today is just proving that fact is more crazy than fiction
the truth is out there you just gotta pry it from the grips of conformity

Ah..... my philosophical friend, take heart and be of good cheer++
For help is at hand......
I think the in the classical period of Greek Philosophy you will find that the philosophers preferred the Middle Path..... moderation! I personally am a great believer in the middle path..... NO extremes!!
Now since you definitely experienced the hard stuff, try the middle path stuff and see how you get on?
A word to the wise....
When something becomes counter productive (there is no pleasure in it) it is time to reevaluate whatever it is and put it back on tract.
Hasten slowly, take some deep breaths, stop and look at the sun set, believe me you will still get there. TIME OUT!

Don't become uptight over philosophies. They are just opinions of men or women, kinda made into one whole. It's their point of view. One, to me is just as the other. The only source I recommend is the Bible, which is the Word of God. It is true and will lead you into all truth.
Begin reading Genesis. You will find out the origin of the earth. Then go to the New Testament and read the gospels. Then explore the Book of Revelation which talks about the end of the world (especially chapters 21 and 22. You will want to throw down those books of philosophy, for the Book of Proverbs (which is in the middle of the Bible) will give you a plethora of things will make you like the wisest man who ever lived. If you think you're becoming philosophical, DON'T!
All it will bring is pain. Try to push it away. If you feel this is not possible, I would recommend reading a history of philosophy book. It will give you some good background to offer as a foundation to the pain you will be experiencing.

The Skeptical movement in Ancient Greece encountered the same problems that you describe. They found faults with logic, and a complete incapability to discern what was true. They did not reject that truth could exist, but questioned their means of finding it. The answer they came up with was to suspend judgment and continue searching for a way to obtain truth to the best of their human abilities.
Chances are that you won't find a complete, irrefuatable answer - no-one has. The best you can do is look criticially at a number of different opinions and your experience should help to settle your mind.
