Hi! My name is Andrew. I believe new assumptions are always possible. Here are some quotes I feel are still relevant to me: "What is to give light must first endure burning." Victor Frankl You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path. Buddha Attention is like a fire. Jiddu Krishnamurti It is by logic we prove, but by intuition we discover. Leonardo da Vinci Weave, weaver of the wind James Joyce The dreamers of the day are dangerous people, For they dream their dreams with open eyes... DH Lawrence "The greatest illusion is not leaving the body. It is imagining we are in a body, in the first place."

3 AnswersOther - Social Science5 years agoI lost confidence in myself to handle police work?in myself to be a police officer?
I thought I identified with their ability to deescalate situations and their ability to be hardwired to live in a constant tense environment where their life is on the line everyday they go to work. But after remembering all the jokes people said around me when I was younger makes me lose faith that I have any ability to desescalate or be able to live in a tense environment. I think back to a few situations where I felt that I identified with police reality. What kind of people do police deal with everyday? Do people try to bust their balls try to make jokes about them too? What do they deal with everyday? Maybe I don't really understand this as well as I thought. Help?
1 AnswerPsychology6 years agoWhich undercover position do you think best suits my interests?
http://www.ehow.com/how_2120247_become-undercover-...
Of the ones listed here, which do you guys think would best suit me? I identify with the game Resident Evil 4, where fear is around every corner and you never know when danger will strike. I also watched the Exorcist and could feel the same tense fear during certain scenes. I practice Tai Chi and I swim, but I don't like to do pushups and running. What do you guys think would suit my interests best? Thanks!

9 AnswersParapsychology7 years agoWhat do you think of Martin Luther's idea that doing good deeds won't "earn" you a spot in heaven?
That only faith in Jesus can give you any chance of receiving divine grace and possibly go to heaven? Because only God can give salvation or redemption.
5 AnswersMythology & Folklore7 years agoWhy do I feel so uncomfortable when I hear people whistling or singing?
Especially when they're whistling. I feel so uncomfortable I know it's irrational to want it to stop when people just do it randomly not even doing it to annoy me.
1 AnswerPsychology7 years agoDo worlds intersect? Are dreams like a two-way portal?
In George MacDonald's Lilith, the main character travels to another world through a mirror. At some point he falls in this other world and somehow falls off a water fountain in the "real world" (for lack of a better word). Usually the main character leaves this world through a door (there is no door out only in "into" another world out of another either the door into this world and out of the real world or back into the real world and out of this other world). But this time he left this world by falling. It's like the two worlds are connected but it seems you can enter and exit worlds in more ways than one.
I've had dreams years ago where if I fell asleep again that same terrifying dream over and again. I wanted so badly to be in control. And now I've been struggling to deal with daily repetitive thoughts that I've realized can only be dealt with by understanding what emotions I'm trying to suppress, exercising self-control, and doing things that are positive. It's like you really can't escape your dreams you can't just say "Oh it was just a dream!" And so you're free of those terrible things you see in those dreams. Somehow the things you fear most or think most significant in dreams sometimes manifest themselves in the waking world. Like the symptoms change as do the symbols but my self-obsessiveness didn't escape just because I woke up.
Does anyone understand what I'm trying to say?
1 AnswerPhilosophy7 years agoWhat do you think of this passage?
I took a walk on Spaulding's Farm the other afternoon. I saw the setting sun lighting up the opposite side of a stately pine wood. Its golden rays straggled into the aisles of the wood as into some noble hall. I was impressed as if some ancient and altogether admirable and shining family had settled there in that part of the land called Concord, unknown to me,--to whom the sun was servant,--who had not gone into society in the village,--who had not been called on. I saw their park, their pleasure-ground, beyond through the wood, in Spaulding's cranberry-meadow. The pines furnished them with gables as they grew. Their house was not obvious to vision; their trees grew through it. I do not know whether I heard the sounds of a suppressed hilarity or not. They seemed to recline on the sunbeams. They have sons and daughters. They are quite well. The farmer's cart-path, which leads directly through their hall, does not in the least put them out,--as the muddy bottom of a pool is sometimes seen through the reflected skies. They never heard of Spaulding, and do not know that he is their neighbor,--notwithstanding I heard him whistle as he drove his team through the house. Nothing can equal the serenity of their lives. Their coat of arms is simply a lichen. I saw it painted on the pines and oaks. Their attics were in the tops of the trees. They are of no politics. There was no noise of labor. I did not perceive that they were weaving or spinning. (goes on)
