Has anyone ever dealt with the unemployment office? If so, what kind of attitude/treatment did you receive?

The attitude of most workers are horrible! This includes the license bureau! Why? You're employed! People make mistakes, and I'm sure it occurs on a daily basis, but it's your job to help the tax paying people of any state USA! Be happy people! Be courteous, and above all treat people the way you would treat your mother's, father's or even kids!

Unemployment employees (there’s an oxymoron for you) don’t really work for you. They work for businesses that operate in your state. While it’s true that you subsidize the department through payroll taxes, unemployment is not a friendly place for the average user.

Unemployment departments simply deliver cheap labor for employers. Then, employers who use the placement services receive discounts on their unemployment ‘premiums.’

Bottom line is that unemployment office people should treat you well and serve your needs. But, they actually work for big business, not for you. And, if more people understood this, more people would influence government to revise the unemployment system because it DOES NOT WORK.

Most unemployment issues can be handled on line these days so you don't even see the employee's happy little faces. I agree with you re the license bureau people, BUT, and this is a huge BUT, the tax paying people who these folks serve, for the most part are miserable excuses for human beings, so they get back (in bad attitude) what they give out in the first place.

Source(s): Have worked with the public in the past, and it's hard to stay nice when you deal with butt heads (and there are alot of them).

depends on the area, and client load. While bad attitudes can be found in every field, the stress unemployment workers are put through is great indeed. With all the uneasiness from people stressing themselves, worrying how they are going to support their family's and them self, can easily cause an abrasive reaction after time.

Sure have. After I was severely injured at work and could no longer perform my job, they fired me. Which was the right thing to do for them. Anyway, I had my wife take me down to the employment office to fill out paperwork so that I could get my Workman's Comp checks. The people down there were nice and friendly and always willing to answer any questions I had.

To find work? Don't go to the office, go on line! They probably only have minimal wage jobs anyway! You have a better chance of finding a job by doing the rounds with businesses! Make up a bunch of resume's and hand them out!

They probably get more crap from people than most jobs. Everybody thinks they're entitled to unemployment, even when they aren't.

And when they don't get it, who gets the brunt of the punishment? The people working there.

Yes I have and I found it to be pathetic too. This one lady did nothing but argue with me over my benefits and whether or not I was eligible. It is like they want you to go away so they don't have to pay you and they look for every reason not to pay you too. I agree the tax paying citizens are paying them enough money for them to be nice and be helpful too, not to just look for reasons to deny you benefits. It is pathetic and it makes me puke.

Here near me, they are friendly and helpful. Of course we are a small rural area and not some big city with a bad tude.

I agree with you...they are like that everywhere. Maybe because it is a city/county/state job, they know that they can do just about anything without getting fired....what do you think??
