I'm assuming you are the father of the child by the name. If you are using your husbands name and you are the mother of course you should not be taking chantix period. If you are the father chantix not only induces vivid nightmares but I have heard that it may cause depression and suicidal thoughts. I was a smoker for 20+ years.

    1. If you smoke. Smoke outside. do not smoke in the house with winter in it's way you will not want to stand in the cold just for a cigarette.

    2. join a tobacco cessation class. knowing someone else is suffering right along with you make you feel not so alone. your local Hospitals usually offer these classes for free.

    3. find some articles and pics of what smoking does to babies and put it in your cigarette pack. and other places you frequent.

    4. ask for support from your friends and family. tell them not to lecture but to gently remind you of your commitment to quit.

    Best of luck to you

Many docs have stopped prescribing chantix. Has been linked to suicide I believe. Has a warning placed on it from the FDA. Do a search for Chantix use. I tried it when it first came out and also had vivid nightmares. I am a nurse and have taken care of few pts with bad abdominal side effects. Really research the drug you are taking.

An anti-depression drug, and exercize program can help, but remember no program will work if you are not mentally ready to quit.
