What has happened to the Olympic games?

I always thought the Olympic Games was about the country.Seems like it's the London 2012 or The London Games. The rest of England as vanished ?

Update:

I asked this question as i read an article about it.Myself not interested in the olympics.I hope Scotland,Ireland &

Wales are all included.Has for who will be paying thats obvious us Tax payers all of us.

Update 2:

The question is about England thought we could have included the whole of the country.

I am glad that someone else thinks the same way as I do the games have absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the UK. The people that have put the bid together would have the people of this country think that all will benefit but we will not. The only people that will make money are those close to the running of it, it is a fact that Lord Coe bless his cotton socks has a company linked to the games doing work that will make him a wealthy man jobs for the boys or what it stinks the whole thing.

The 2008 games have just ended and you are already worried about the 2012 games. Wait till 2012 to ask this because I think things will change.

When the Olympics come to a country the focus is on the city that holds them. WHY you ask. Because the city puts in LOTS of money and time in to getting ready for the Olympics.

Wrong.. it's always been the city's games. Beijing. Athens, Sydney. Anyway, at the London Olympics there will not even be an England team. England competes as part of the Great Britain team

I'm sure England will answer your question in a positive way come 2012. They may even go as far as to include Scotland and Wales.

They have been calling the Olympics by the city that they are in for quite a while.

    Sydney Olympics

    Athens Olympics

    Beijing Olympics

But yer I agree with you, they should bring more of the country into it not just the city

Londoners have already been paying for it, it was the Bejing olympics as well not Chinese, Sydney, not Australian, Athens not Greek. The city bids to get it not the country.

Olympics are pretty much always remembered and referred to by the city e.g. Moscow 1980, Beijing 2008 etc.

Olympic games can be anywhere and they are called by what city they are in. Like Melbourne olympic games. Not the capital, not the country.!

    "Athens Games"

    "Beijing Games"

I remember that's what they were referred to. Sure they talked about the Country, which they will no doubt do as it gets closer to 2012, but it seems to always mention the City first and foremost.

Berlin Games, Sydney Games, Beijing Games, Athens Games, Munich Games. I think they are all referred to by city.
