any books on geisha?
I'm doing a research study report on geisha but I'm finding it hard to find books by historians. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on them. Can anybody recommend books?
Thanks

Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arthur Golden is an amazing book, and in the back of it, he credits the sources that he used, so it might be worth having a look at it.

I loved the book. In fact, it's the second time I'm reading it since two years back. It's really well-written and I think it is pretty accurate on most accounts. I've always wanted to visit Japan. :P I actually want to see a real geisha now! :)) But, just to add, I have not seen the movie but I hear that it isn't very much like the book.

Autobiography of a Geisha by Sayo Masuda.
Written by a former geisha raised in impoverished Japan and sold by her family into a Geisha household and then had to earn her board and lodging before she could earn her way out.
