Is it possible to break a bone in the top of your foot?

I work in a nursing home and I had a mechanical "hoyer lift" roll back and hit the top of my foot with the under part of the machine where you open the legs with. [ the latch plate of the adjusting lever. for those of you who are familiar.] i can move all my toes and can walk on it without pain. but when i touch that part of my foot it feels like there is a bump there and it hurts very bad. it almost feels like there is a bone sticking out......

Where ever there is a bone there's always a possibility to break it. However in your foot its more likely you've sprained it than broke.

See a doctor for that, that's always the best way to go...

Yes, it is possible to have broken it. The only problem is there isnt much a doctor can do to fix it. Get to the doctor for an x-ray though, just to make sure it heals in the best way possible.

Of course it's possible because there are bones in your feet. I won't venture a guess as to what it is so you'd best just see a Dr. and follow his/her advice so it heals properly and does not cause you problems later in life.

You probably would not be able to walk if you broke a bone in your foot. The bump you feel is probably inflammation.
