Scrub them, dry them, prick them with a fork, and rub them with some oil..that way the course salt will stick. Sprinkle with salt and pepper (steak seasoning works well too), and place them in a preheated 400 degree oven for about 1 hour. When the potato gives a little when squeezed, it's done.

It all depends on how much time you have......
I generally either do the potato in the micowave for about 12 mins, turning it over after 6 mins, or cook it in the micorwave for about 6 mins and then put it in the oven for about 40 mins
hope this is of some help

Don't do them in the microwave. They cook unevenly; and will have grainy and gluey parts in there - yuck! That's why no restaurants or chefs ever do it:) ......Obviously scrub them:) You can wrap in foil, but I usually just rub with a little olive oil; prick them; and sprinkle with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning. They can bake at the same temperature as anything else that's in the oven and just adjust the time:) By themselves, I do 2 of them at 400 for about 1 hour....

I've just been experimenting with 5 mins in the Microwave and finnish off in the conventional oven, by the way, always try to use Baking Potatoes, the seem to work better as all spuds are not the same!

Stab it a few times with a skewer, microwave 5 mins, in the oven for 30 mins.

i get my potato, stab it a few times, wash it and put it in the microwave for 10 minutes to soften it then put straight in the oven on 190degrees (depending on your oven!) wait an hour have a look at it and if it looks crispy take it out and ENJOY! it should be soft n fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside!

These days we just microwave them on full for 3-5 minutes.
You can also wrap them in foil & put on the BBQ grill for a while.
We used to put them on a metal kabob skewer in the oven.
It would take 30-40 minutes at 350-400F along side the roast.

Prick the potatoes (preferably stab them with a sharp knife)
Nook in the microwave for about 10 minutes (more for more potatoes - Less for small potatoes)
Crisp up in a very hot oven for 10 - 20 minutes

bake them in an oven. 400 degrees for an hour. press them to see if they are done...they should not be hard at all.
