How do I get rid of the stye on my eye?
I have a small stye on the corner of my upper eye lid by my eyelashes. My mom says that to get rid of it, I have to pop it like a zit, but it hurts like crazy, and it makes my eye all watery and red when I try. Is there anyway to get rid of it besides for going to the doctor, and if I do, what do they do about it?
Also, what causes a stye to occur? I heard that a stye is caused by the bacteria that is in a staph infection. If this is true, does that mean I have a staph infection on my eye?

If you pop it you may spread the infection to your other eye as well, or to another spot on that eye, so I would not recommend popping it.
A stye is actually caused by a bacteria, an infection, often a staph infrection, and you may need antibiotics to treat it, but sometimes it will go away on its own. Soften the stye by applying a hot, moist compress several times a day for at lease 10 minutes at a time.
Whenever you are treating a stye, be very careful and resist the urge to pop or squeeze it! Do not rub your eyes because you can easily spread the infection to your other eye - that is unless you want a matching sett. If your stye does not go away within a week see your doctor about getting antibiotics.
Here are a couple of helpful links.

well its not gonna be gone tomorrow morning, I'm sorry to say. I used to get styes all the time, the only thing ever helpful to me was to get water as hot as you can stand it, which will swell the clogged tear duct (or in which case it IS a pimple or blemish, it will swell the clogged pore) and allow the solids to come of of the stye or blemish. If the pain is in the corner of your eye, you may not see it but would feel the pain. Get water as hot as you can stand it in that area and hold a warm compress to it as long as you can, again this will relieve the pressure and allow the clogged pore or duct to open up and let the infection out. I worked in a group home and had a client have a stye show up on her eye within just minutes and swell out to the size of a large pimple in about fifteen minutes. Some styes have to be lanced by a health professional, which hers did. If you are worried about it, see your doctor or optomotrist asap good luck

Put hot compresses on it. Do not touch it than touch any part of your eye or other eye or it will spread. Go to walmart and get this medicine it is called "stye". Put it on there and it will get rid of it. If you are under any kind of eye strain or wear glasses and have not gotten a new script in a while, it is time for a new prescription go to the eye doctor. Your Stye will go away when you stop straining your eyes so much. If it is caused by eye strain. But, hot compresses will help it go down. Buy Cetaphil cleanser, close your eye wipe on eye than wipe of with hot wash rag, this will make it feel better. Than put hot compresses on for about 30 minutes, keep getting wash rag hot when it gets cold. Than put your Stye medicine on.

"Styes are enflamed sebaceous glands (near the base of the eyelashes) and are usually caused by staphylococcus bacteria. They look similar to pimples, but should not be squeezed or pierced as the bacteria inside can spread over the entire eyelid."
your mom was wrong!
DO NOT TRY TO POP IT!
Do not rub your eyes because you can easily spread the infection to your other eye
try these:
-Soften the stye by applying a hot, moist compress several times a day for at lease 10 minutes at a time.
-The tannic acid in tea is reported to help cure styes - take a used tea bag that is still warm and apply it to the eye as a warm compress.

Actually, Warm tea bags help styes. Put a moist tea bag on your eye for a bout 10 minutes every night for a few days and It'll start to go down.
And about the bacteria, It is a type of staphylococcal bacteria but a "friendly" one to the body.
Hope that helped.

've suffered with acne for awhile now, however, I think treating acne takes time. I got rid of of acne by drinking lots of water and eating very healthy, which was the best remedy by far. Also, washing my face twice daily. ,However, using natural cleansers made my face feel, look healthier, and clearer. Though, having a workout plan also takes a big impact on your skin, ALSO, NEVER TOUCH OR PICK AT YOUR FACE. But, if you absolutely have to, get two q-tips and squeeze the puss out gently. Then, put an ice cube on it so the redness will go away. Also, changing your pillowcases every other night helps too. I hope I helped. :)

i am the worlds worst for having styes.... if you dont mind pain get a syringe(needle) and just poke it. If you do you can buy some anti-bac. stuff that gets rid of it or if you do go to the doctor they will more than likely pop it themselves with a needle or their fingernails.

try taking a wash cloth and putting it under hot water for a few minutes and then placing it on the sty until the cloth cools down. do this saeveral times a day. i also think that they make a medicine that you can over the counter at a pharmacy that can be used to help get rid of a sty. you can always ask the pharmacists. he/she should know and also give you more advice than i can. good luck!
